We opened our doors in 2005, and have become known for our highly experienced teachers, our innovative approach to movement, and our efforts in community care and social justice. 🎉Our drop-in schedule continues to grow!

By popular demand we now have 7️⃣ Strength Essentials classes per week. Strength Essentials is great for folks who are new to strength training and those who have more experience but just want to be in a fun, supportive, non-gym environment.

Our Strength Essentials classes have two different blocks of exercises per week, so you can come twice a week for complimentary work-outs, or just stick to one time per week.
💪🏽Block one classes:
Mondays 9am, 10:30am, 4pm, Tuesdays 5:30pm

💪🏽Block two classes:
Thursdays 9am, 4:15pm, Fri 12pm

🧘🏿‍♂️We're also adding a brand new Sunday class, since the 9:30am class is often sold out. You can now catch Stretch & Centre at 9:45am, and enjoy gentle movement and guided mindfulness with Leslie.

We are excited to announce that Branches Co-Director Leslie is returning from maternity leave and is rarin' to teach. Leslie has spent the last year with baby Ronan, born last October, who is now walking, pointing and babbling. Ronan's nicknames include Rony Pony and Rone Bone. We welcome additional silly nickname suggestions!

You can catch up with Leslie at our Monday 7:30pm Slow Flow. Leslie will also be teaching a *BRAND NEW CLASS* on Sundays at 9:45am - we're calling it Stretch & Centre.

(PLEASE NOTE: There is still the 9:30am Slow Flow on Sundays in Sky Studio).

Stretch & Centre blends intentional movement with guided mindfulness to help you feel more grounded and present in your body. The class will begin with a gentle yoga flow to help you find steadiness and ease and will end with a range of meditative practices. No previous yoga or meditation experience is required. This is a supportive class for anyone seeking both a good stretch and mental spaciousness — a chance to soften tension, quiet your mind, and return to yourself.

use of props can raise certain questions: What do support and
sustenance mean to you? How would it feel to allow someone or
something to support you? What would it be like if you consistently
nurtured yourself?”

So many of our classes utilize supportive props, but none more than the our fully Restorative class on Thursday evenings, 7:30pm with Carol . Come explore your relationship to support and see what it feels like to nurture yourself.

We're celebrating 2️⃣0️⃣ Years of Friendship! Emma and Leena (two of The Branches' co-directors) met in 2005 at their University of Waterloo residence, Conrad Grebel University College. They bonded over feminism, activism and colourful scarves. Their first shared project was producing and directing a fundraising production of The Va**na Monologues at UW. They both practiced yoga in university, and after completing their yoga teacher training in different places, began to teach at Queen Street Yoga. Leena bought Queen Street Yoga from Meaghan Johnson in 2012, with Emma on board as studio manager, and the rest is history!

We hope this little friendship story encourages you to think of your oldest friend, and give them a call or send them a text to let them know you're thinking about 'em.

Side Angle Pose: a classic for a reason! It opens the hips, strengthens the legs, and lengthens the spine and shoulders — all key ingredients in a well-balanced practice.
Poses like this are staples in our Essentials Yoga classes- we break them down and build them up. We keep things active but approachable, helping you move with more ease and awareness.
