Heather Severin Registered Massage Therapy Repair and replenish your body and mind with a therapeutic massage by Heather Severin RMT.

20/08/2023

Good morning,

Unfortunately we had a pipe burst in our basement which has resulted in water damage throughout my massage clinic area. The insurance company was out last week and has ripped out the floors and some drywall and now we are in the midst of a waiting game to see what the next steps are to have it repaired. In the mean time, I will be moving my massage room temporarily into another room downstairs. To those who have had cancelled appointments I will reach out shortly to reschedule. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks!

45 minute: $80

75 minute: $120
90 minute: $140

I appreciate your business and continued support. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

On March 9, 2022, the Ontario Government announced changes to masking mandates, and the lifting of any remaining public health measures, directives and orders by the end of April.

The College of Massage Therapy of Ontario (CMTO) considers all Massage Therapy practice settings to be healthcare settings which means RMTs will continue to wear surgical masks and all clients will be expected to wear a mask until April 27, 2022. At this time I will re-evaluate and post any changes that will be made to the masking protocol.

In addition, double screening is no longer required, only screening just prior to your massage. This means I will no longer be emailing you a screening questionnaire to respond to but rather will ask you the screening questions upon your arrival.
I continue to appreciate your consideration in postponing your massage if you or a family member are feeling unwell until the whole household is healthy again.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you!

Good morning, just a quick note to let you know my practice will be remaining open during this lockdown. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thanks and have a great day!

Good morning, I hope everyone is staying warm out there!

As Ontario businesses prepare to reopen this coming week I will be starting to reschedule appointments. I will be reaching out to all of the clients who had appointments during the lockdown to reschedule if you so choose. If you didn't have an appointment but are hoping to book one please contact me and I will add you to my list.

I would also like to remind everyone to please be mindful of the policies laid out with regards to social distancing and masking. My practice is run out of my home and I take extra precautions both during business hours and out to ensure the safety of my family and my clients. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to seeing each of you in the near future.

Dear Clients,

As you have most likely heard, a state of emergency has been declared again with an order requiring all people to stay at home for the next 28 days except for essential purposes. As RMTs are regulated healthcare practitioners, I am permitted to stay open for essential massage only. After careful consideration, I have decided I will close my practice for this 28 day period to routine/regular massage appointments for chronic injuries and relief (effective Thursday January 14, 2020). I will be in contact with all clients who have appointments booked during this time frame to reschedule. I will however remain open for emergent access due to a new injury or emergency.

I encourage all of you at this time to stay at home and stay safe. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing you when I re-open!

29/12/2020

Happy Holidays everyone!

I hope you are all having a safe and healthy holiday. Just wanted to let you know that healthcare practitioners which includes Registered Massage Therapists are allowed to remain open as long as we continue practicing all safety protocols. I will continue to see clients as scheduled at this time. If anything changes I will be in touch with each client who has an appointment booked as well as posting an update on my page.

Take care and stay safe!

16/07/2020

Hello everyone,

My masks finally arrived! This means I will officially be opening my doors back up. I will be reaching out to all of my clients who had previously booked appointments that were cancelled due to Covid-19 first. Please be patient as I have quite an extensive list!

Once I have reached those clients that had pre-existing appointments, I will then reach out to those clients who have contacted me with interest to book an appointment.

To start, I will be booking one hour appointments in the evenings at 6pm and 7:30pm from Monday to Friday except between Monday July 27th and Friday August 7th when I will be on holidays with my family.

For a reminder of the new protocols in place for your safety, please see the previous post.

It has been a very long few months and I am really looking forward to getting back and seeing all of you!

Good afternoon everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I am still waiting on the mandatory medical masks required for me to start back to work. I've contacted the company several times and they have only given me a rough estimate of end of June/beginning of July delivery. Once I have received these I will be calling clients starting with the first cancelled appointments to reschedule you all in. I'm looking forward to seeing you all and getting back into a regular routine!

In the meantime I have a longwinded post of what to expect with the new pandemic protocols in place. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

These are my new practice guidelines as recommended by the Ministry of Health and the CMTO in order to minimize the risk of spread of COVID-19. Please note that due to the nature of Massage Therapy, physical distancing is impossible so these protocols will not completely eliminate the risk of transmission.

Pre-Screening / Prior to Arrival

* Clients will be informed about their responsibilities at the time of booking and must agree to adhere to the new safety measures.
* Three days prior to their booked appointment, I will call the client to complete a COVID-19 Symptom Self-Assessment tool (it takes less than 1 minute to do). I will then record your answers in your file.
* I will also be using the COVID-19 Self-Assessment tool daily and commit to rescheduling all appointments if symptoms appear.
* Symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses and seasonal allergies. An appointment must be cancelled immediately if either the client or the therapist presents with even mild symptoms that may be signs of COVID-19 including: fever, cough, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat or pain with swallowing, stuffy or runny nose, loss of sense of smell, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or pink eye.
* As a part of this consent form, clients must commit to understanding that while I’ve taken all possible measures to minimize risk of viral transmission, the nature of massage therapy and other treatments means that physical distancing is not possible in the treatment room.
In order for massage therapy treatment to commence the therapeutic benefit of massage therapy must outweigh any potential consequence of treatment, including the possibility of viral transmission.
* Clients must confirm that they have not been in contact with anyone displaying illness, or signs and symptoms of COVID-19 within 14 days prior to their treatment.
* Clients with higher risk profiles and/or weakened immune systems should consider alternatives for care and postpone treatment.
* The client and the therapist must both agree that the benefits of massage therapy outweigh the potential risks involved.
* If a client is feeling unwell and must cancel their appointment, they will NOT be charged

Upon Arrival

* I will have completed my Self-Assessment and confirm my results upon your arrival
* Clients must arrive wearing a clean mask that must stay on for the duration of your visit
* Clients must complete the screening questionnaire once more prior to treatment.
* The treatment will be cancelled immediately if the client does not meet the pre-screening criteria.
* A log will be kept of all people entering the office/treatment space; including couriers, guardians, clients, etc to assist with contact tracing if ever required.

Physical Distancing

* Clients must arrive unaccompanied unless a client is a minor or requires assistance
* It is not possible to maintain physical distancing while in the treatment room. For all other areas we will maintain a space of 2 meters (6 feet) distance between each other.
* All unnecessary items that cannot be disinfected after each client will be removed from the office/treatment.
* If you are early for your appointment, please wait in your car and text to let me know you have arrived as I may still be disinfecting and airing out the treatment room from the previous appointment.

Hand Hygiene

* Immediately upon entering the client must EITHER:

Go directly to the hand washing sink without touching anything and wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and then dry thoroughly with paper towels
OR

Use the hand sanitizer provided for at least 20 seconds
I will follow proper hand washing techniques for at least 20 seconds before and after every appointment and after disinfecting the clinic space.

* E-transfer is a contactless method of payment clients can use, however I will still accept cash and cheques, but I will sanitize my hands before and after handling money, and paper receipts.

Avoid Face Touching

* Therapist and clients will wear face masks that cover both the nose and mouth at all times.
* Muscles of the face will not be treated at this time, until further notice.

Enhanced Cleaning

* Additional time has been scheduled between clients to allow for thorough cleaning of the treatment room in accordance with infection control protocols outlined by the Ministry of Health and CMTO.
* The treatment table, table levers, face cradle, pillows, chairs, and lotion bottles will be immediately disinfected after each treatment.
* All linens, including blankets are single use only and will be laundered using high heat, detergent and between each use.
* Everything else including chairs, stool, door k***s, light switches, and floor will be cleaned/disinfected after every appointment.
* The bathroom will be disinfected after each client appointment.
* An air purifier will be used during and/or after appointments. The window can also be opened to air out the room.

Personal Protective Equipment

* I will wear a face mask at all times as required by the CMTO and Ministry of Health.
* I will also be wearing nitrile gloves at this time.
* Safety glasses may be used, but are not required by the CMTO/MOH.
* Clients are required to wear a face mask. They can be fabric or disposable.
* If for some reason clients do not have a face mask they can inform me prior to their appointment and I will place one in the mailbox for you to put on prior to entering the clinic.

In the Event That a Client Alleges they Caught COVID-19 from the Therapist

* I will immediately call public health to report the alleged transmission, providing the contact details of my client and myself.
* A log will be kept of all people entering the office/treatment space; including couriers, guardians, clients, etc to assist with contact tracing if ever required. This log will be kept confidential for privacy reasons.
* All massage therapy appointments will be cancelled and I will cease to provide services until Public Health has investigated and provided direction.
* I will immediately self-isolate until Public Health has investigated and provided direction.

Asymptomatic Spreaders

* Asymptomatic transmission of the coronavirus is an unavoidable risk of practice until we’ve acquired herd immunity, there is an effective treatment or vaccine against COVID-19.

Informed Consent

* In the current environment of COVID-19 risk, informed consent requires that the client be informed and understands that:

Any massage therapy treatment involves some risk of COVID-19 transmission;

I am following all protocols to help reduce or mitigate risk where possible, but that risk cannot be reduced to zero

The client believes the risks outweigh the benefits of the treatment, and consents to treatment despite of the risks.

* I will have a consent form for you to fill out prior to your first massage in regards to treatment during the pandemic.

I know this may seem a bit overwhelming but the biggest difference for clients will be wearing a mask and extra hand hygiene. Most of the rest is just to let you know that I am doing my best to look out for your health and safety at this unprecedented time in our world.

22/06/2020

Hi everyone, just a quick update to let you know that I am still waiting on my mandatory PPE before I can start booking appointments. I am hoping it will arrive soon! I appreciate your patience and hope you are staying well!

09/06/2020

Good evening everyone. As I prepare to reopen my practice, I have been making a few changes to make your appointment safer during this pandemic. Here are some of the new safety protocols you can expect at your next visit.

1) All clients will be screened for COVID-19 at the time they book their appointment and also prior to treatment at your appointment. I will also be screening myself prior to your appointment for your safety. As a reminder, if you are experiencing any possible COVID-19 related symptoms, I ask that you please stay home. There will be no cancellation fees at this time.

2) In order to minimize contact with other clients, please wait in your vehicle when you arrive and I will call or text you to let you know when you can come inside.

3) Even if you have no COVID or flu-like symptoms, all patients will need to be wearing their own clean mask prior to entering the clinic. Your mask must remain on for the duration of the massage and until after you have left the clinic. If you feel that you will not be able to wear a mask for the duration of the massage, it would be best to hold off on booking your appointment until more restrictions have been lifted. I understand that this may be a challenge but is mandatory for both of our safety since we are in such close contact for an extended period of time.

4) After entering the clinic, all clients must wash their hands with soap and water following the proper hand washing hygiene which will be posted in the bathroom. I will also have sanitizer available to you.

5) The waiting area and treatment room have been meticulously cleaned and reorganized for optimal hygiene. They will also be sanitized thoroughly between clients.

6) In order to slowly reintroduce my body to working as well as to fit in the long client list I have, I will only be offering up to 60 minutes in duration for massages at this time.

7) I encourage clients to use etransfer at this time if possible.

I have a list of clients in order of your cancelled appointments which I will be following for rebooking when my practice does reopen. I am tentatively looking at the end of June as I am still waiting on required products that are backordered. I will continue to update my page with any news. Thank you again for your patience and understanding. I look forward to seeing you all!
