We are proud to share that in 2025, the Opportunity Centre and The Food Bank of Waterloo Region worked together to distribute 10,709 meals to individuals and families in our community.
Our hamper program also saw incredible engagement, with 96 unique households visiting a total of 894 times throughout the year.

None of this would be possible without the continued support of our volunteers, partners, and community members. Thank you for helping us make a meaningful difference!🍽️

Given the alarming pace at which homelessness is increasing, and the mismatch between current needs and available resources, homeless encampments are on course to persist - and potentially even multiply - in our communities.

What are the tools we need to navigate this forecasted reality? What constrains our options, and where are there opportunities to do things differently?

On January 21 (6-8pm), bring your questions to a candid Q&A with:

▶ The City of Kitchener Bylaw Enforcement Team
▶ Waterloo Region Community Legal Services
▶ A Lived Expert from SDCWR
▶ Sanguen Health Centre

Free and open to the public.

Jawid Rahi is a Traverse client that has always lived through music - singing, playing keyboard, writing songs, and leading his own band. After his brain injury, life changed drastically, and he couldn’t make music for a long time.

Last year, he decided to write about his journey in a song called “I Fight with Life.” He approached one of our Life Skills Facilitators, Sua, for help recording this song and we were able to book a session at the Cambridge Library with some helpful tech support.

From there, JR sent the audio overseas for mixing, and after months of work, his music video is now complete. 🎶

He is incredibly proud to share this achievement and grateful for the support and encouragement he received along the way.

His message is powerful: "Life changed suddenly, but love helped him rise again. Whatever he was and whatever he is now - he will live to sing for love."❤️

Disclaimer: This song is not performed in English, but good music speaks for itself.
