Pillow Drive Extended – Let’s Keep It Going!

Summer tends to slow things down—especially in this heat - but community care doesn’t take a vacation, and neither do the needs in our city.

At DC Fitness, we believe in showing up—not just for our workouts, but for each other and our wider KW community. That’s why we jumped in when one of our amazing members invited us to be part of a pillow drive benefiting local shelters, women’s homes, and community housing.

🧡 Pillows are a small but critical item—and something many community organizations are actively short on. Your donation can help someone in transition, in crisis, or in healing find a soft place to lay their head.

You’ll still find the Pillow Donation Pile near The Cave—and we’re extending the drive through July 11 to give more of us a chance to join in.

➡️ How to Help.... Bring in a new pillow the next time you’re at the gym and place it in the collection area. It’s a simple way to make a big difference.

STILL ACCEPTING PILLOW DONATIONS!

Calling on our DC Community! For the month of June we are helping a local community group with "The Pillow Project". We're collecting (new) pillow donations for Waterloo's supported housing (shelters, women's homes, etc)! This project was brought to us by one of our DC members (thanks Leslie!) and we are super excited to help!

Tips for Staying Hydrated During Hot Weather Workouts...

Drink Plenty of Water: Before, during, and after your workout, make sure to drink sufficient water. Aim to consume at least 8 ounces of water every 15-20 minutes during exercise.

Replenish Electrolytes: When you sweat, you lose essential electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium. Consider sports drinks or electrolyte-enhanced beverages to replenish these vital minerals, especially during intense or prolonged workouts

Plan Ahead: Hydrate adequately before your workout to start off well-hydrated. Additionally, check the weather forecast, adjust the intensity or duration of your workout.

Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to signs of dehydration, such as excessive thirst, dark urine, dizziness, or fatigue. If you experience any of these symptoms, take a break, find shade, and hydrate immediately.
