This is cyanosis — a visible sign that oxygen isn’t reaching the tissues. When circulation or oxygenation drops, the skin (especially nail beds and lips) turns blue. Recognizing this early in the field can make the difference between timely intervention and rapid deterioration.

It’s the final day of our 2025 Fall Preparamedicine program, and students are wrapping up with one of the most unforgettable scenarios — childbirth! 👶
Using one of our high-fidelity patient simulators, students experience the communication and teamwork that go into emergency childbirth.
