In case you missed it, we're hosting a Living Library next month!

Our Living Library will include Human Books, people who have or have had a disability, and face barriers to building relationships with others. Each of their stories will explore their journey to health and happiness through connections to others. These stories can sometimes go unheard, unacknowledged or unappreciated.

Coming together for our Turning the Page evening brings these silenced stories to Readers, like you, who are eager to listen and learn. Bring along your curiosity, and join us for an exciting evening of conversation and stories!

On November 16, we join communities around the world in recognizing the International Day for Tolerance. This day is a reminder that compassion, respect, and understanding are essential to building inclusive societies.

At EAFWR, we believe that celebrating our differences strengthens us, and we remain committed to creating spaces where every individual feels safe, valued, and heard. Today and every day, we encourage our community to practice empathy, challenge prejudice, and stand together in support of inclusion for all.

We encourage you to visit our blog to learn more and read a reflection from one of our team members, Trena. Thank you, Trena, for sharing your thoughts and experience with us! https://www.eafwr.on.ca/reflecting-on-international-day-for-tolerance-2025/

About EAFWR

Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region was founded in 1981 by parents of children with developmental disabilities, as a way to build friendship and nurture community in Waterloo Region. As a local not-for-profit who serves more than 2,000 adults and children with developmental and physical disabilities, EAFWR champions an inclusive community for all by working with people with disabilities, their networks and the broader community. We envision a community where everyone belongs and is valued for their contributions
