I made sourdough pretzels tonight, but first I made oven art, and then I made a drink to celebrate NOT burning my house down.

Turns out that when you have sourdough bread rising for a morning bake, that you are supposed to take it out of the oven BEFORE you preheat for the pretzels.

It was my favourite giant Tupperware bowl too…and a double batch of dough totally wasted. Double f@ck. Also, while I was frantically waving a towel by the ceiling to get the smoke alarm to stop howling, the melted plastic cooled, and now it’s stuck to my oven rack. Does that make it a triple f@ck?

The pretzels are delicious though, and the V8 Ceasar is really good. It’s made with local Sask which is great - you should try it. Don’t try the ruining stuff and trying to burn your house down part. 0/10 Do not recommend.

Fresh cut and style by my amazing niece has me feelin’ good ❤️

She shortened the back and angled it forward for a beveled look that maintains my length so I can still pull it back for running and workouts. I’m super happy with how it turned out, so had to take a car selfie before I even left the Kickass Hair parking lot.

An almost unbearably cold round with and to end the season on this cold Thanksgiving Monday. My finger tips are numb but starting to tingle now that I’m in our warm car listening to the game on the way home.

A running weekend for Mama and Malin:

Friday Malin raced 2k at Cross Country in Vermilion, and improved on last year’s time by more than 3 minutes. Then she and I drove to Saskatoon for the Step Up for Mental Health run weekend. She ran her first ever 5k race (and did so great!), and I completed the “Saskatoon Challenge” - the half marathon on Saturday, and a 5k today with my mini. My half was really hard, super hot, and about 40 minutes slower than my PB, but I did it. Then we had a Boston Pizza and golf date last night, and some pool time too. The 5k today was tough because there were SO MANY people we had to bob and weave around, but we finished it with a smile. So proud of my kiddo, and looking forward to doing it again!

I ran 15.1 km today, and even though it felt AWFUL, I got it done. I am entered to run the Step Up for Mental Health Half Marathon in Saskatoon next weekend, and then the 5k version with Malin the next day. I’ve been running, but not nearly as much as I SHOULD have been for an adequate training routine, and definitely not the long run distances required. Between travel, playing ball, back to school chaos, wicked heel blisters, and plain old poor planning, I’ve really dropped the ball, and now I’m full of regret. Whoops.

But I did 4k with Malin, and then 11 more with myself and my regrets today, and I didn’t fall over (even though I felt like it more than once, and the snake tried to terrify us into defeat). So if I can match that, and reach down into the tank for 6 more - even if it’s walking - I think I can finish with some bumper room before they close the course down.

Sunday will probably suck, and Monday will be worse, but I think I can do it. 😬
