Can you see the fish?
Me either! But they can, and so can my fly-fisher husband.
He has been watching the flying insects as they skim close to the surface, waiting to see what the fish are jumping for this evening.
He has already walked the stream, looking for the quiet, shaded spots where he knows they like to hang out.
He makes his choice, attaches the fly, and executes a perfect cast just upstream from where he saw the fish rising.
The party of three watches the tiny fly as it floats with the current, waiting for the fish to jump.
Moments later, the most beautiful rainbow trout clears the surface, its iridescent scales reflecting in the evening light, and claims the tiny fly…
Three feet away from where his line was resting.
Have you ever felt like that?
You've taken the time to scope out your audience.
You know what their habits are.
You know their tastes.
You handpick your content just for them, present it perfectly, and they choose someone else.
I know I have!
Here’s what I did-
I took a page out of my husband’s book (please don’t tell him!),
🐟 Researched my audience some more.
🐛 Fine-tuned the content.
🎣 Presented it again to another “fish”.
🦈 Keep trying! Sometimes, those little adjustments are all you need!
My husband ended up catching the grand-daddy of rainbow trout later that evening! —This is, after all, a fish tale 😉
P.S. After reading this post to my husband, he gave some input, and I now owe him 3 fishing trips. On the bright side, I now have more material for fishing analogies - stay tuned!
P.P.S. If you need fresh content that is well-researched and laser-focused for your clients, with a dash of humour — Please hire me! I have fishing trips to finance 😁
Final P.S. If you have any “fishing stories”, let me know in the comments!
