Separation and divorce is some of the most complex work we do as therapists.
Not just because relationships end. Also...
Because nervous systems fracture.
Because identity collapses.
Because children are involved.
Because the legal system enters the therapy room whether we want it to or not.
Because betrayal trauma can look like post traumatic stress.
Because good therapists can accidentally reinforce conflict while trying to help.
April 28, from 4-6, I am offering a 2-hour clinical supervision group for counsellors who want to feel more confident supporting clients through separation and divorce.
We will explore:
• How separation impacts the nervous system
• How to support clients without reinforcing litigation narratives
• How to support parents in protecting their children emotionally
• BC resources
• Recognizing high conflict vs high distress
• Affair trauma and attachment injury
• Documentation considerations when notes may be subpoenaed
• Therapist regulation in emotionally loaded cases
This group is practical. Reflective. Grounded in real clinical situations.
This is especially valuable for therapists who sometimes leave these sessions feeling heavy or unsure if they did enough.
Supervision is where therapists get supported too.
