🎃✨ The Celtic Origins of Halloween — Samhain in Ireland ✨🎃

Long before modern Halloween, the ancient Celts in Ireland celebrated Samhain (pronounced “Sow-in”), marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter — the dark half of the year.

Samhain was a sacred time when the veil between worlds grew thin, allowing spirits and ancestors to pass freely between realms. Fires were lit on sacred hills to guide and protect, and families left offerings of food and drink to honour loved ones who had passed.

It was a night of deep magic, reflection, and renewal — a time to release the old, celebrate the bounty of the earth, and prepare for new beginnings.

As centuries passed, Samhain’s traditions travelled and transformed — blending with Christian All Hallows’ Eve — becoming what we now know as Halloween. Yet the spirit of Samhain still lives on in every candle lit, every costume worn, and every whisper of the autumn wind.
