WHEN TRAGEDY STRIKES
Human reactions to shock or grief can vary.
Some reactions may include numbness, sadness, weeping, anger, guilt, anxiety, poor sleep, restlessness, poor appetite, weight loss or gain or fatigue.
The list is not exhaustive, but just a rew remedies to think of acutely.
SHOCK:
-Aconitum napellus. Think of taking as a first remedy for shock. May be accompanied by extreme fear, specifically of death, restlessness, or anxiety. May be worse in the evening and have an increased thirst. May be cold.
-Arnica montana can also be used for an emotional or physical shock including exhaustion. Often follows Aconite. Arnica is often used after an injury which may have swelling, brusing and fear of being touched because of the pain. This remedy may be repeated as needed.
GRIEF:
-Ignatia amara. Recent bereavement or emotional shocks, early stages of grief, dwelling on the event. May not be able to accept what has happened; sense of disbelief, hysteria, intolerant of contradiction. Unable to cry. Want to be alone, worse for consolation.
-Causticum. Anxiety thinking something bad is about to happen, weeping, takes on the problems of others, hopeless, despondent, wants to die, hysteria with an oversensitivity to noise, touch, excitment, change of routine; worse in the evening
-Pulsatilla pratensis - often gentle and yielding types that may start to have changeable moods, weeping, moody, want company and affection, much better for consolation, better after crying, worse in a warm room, desire open air, thirstless.
Aurum metallicaum - Angry or violent from contradiction with silent grief. Feels guilty or worthless, brooding, forsaken feeling, suicidal, sadness/mental depression with loss of hope and disgust for life, quarrelsome and irritable. Restless sleep with anxious dreams.
ANGER:
-Staphysagria for a feeling of indignation or grief, easily aroused to anger but cannot express it; try to cover it with being pleasant.
-Belladonna for a feeling of anger, possibly accompanied by red face. Angry with acute senses, in a world of their own. May have throbbing pains or photophobia, thirst or craving for lemonade. Generally warm or hot.
- Natrium muriaticum. For very sensitive people who remember things for a long time, may want revenge, need to protect self by shutting feelings off. Sadness, inability to find joy, mental depression. Anger with silent grief, Fear of robbers. Want to be alone. Worse for consolation except for a select few. Better lying down, worse heat.
- Nux vomica. Emotionally can be tense, irritable and oversensitive to noise, light, smells, may be prone to pouring themselves into their work or play. Often comes with digestive upset or nausea; better with vomiting but find it difficult to do so.
Recommended dosing varies, but generally look to use a remedy in a 30c(h) potency, 1 dry pellet by mouth 1-3x day as needed, away from food or drink, other than water.
