🌿 Migraines aren’t “just a headache.”

For many people, migraines can involve throbbing pain, nausea, light sensitivity, brain fog, missed work, and disrupted sleep — sometimes lasting hours or even days.
It’s no surprise that individuals living with recurrent migraines often look for additional ways to manage their symptoms.

👉 So where does medical cannabis fit into the conversation?

Some people living with migraines, tension-type headaches, and chronic daily headaches explore medical cannabis as part of a broader, personalized symptom-management plan.
Cannabis interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in:

• Pain signaling
• Inflammation
• Nausea
• Sensory processing
• Sleep regulation

Because of this interaction, some patients report support with symptoms such as:

✨ Migraine-related pain
✨ Nausea or vomiting
✨ Sensitivity to light or sound
✨ Sleep disruption

💬 When it comes to migraine care, clinician-guided support is key.

If you’re navigating migraines and wondering whether medical cannabis could be an option for you, our team is here to provide evidence-informed guidance and compassionate care.

😴 6 Nighttime Habits for Better Sleep Quality

Sleep affects everything — mood, immune health, focus, metabolism, and resilience.
Yet for many people, good sleep feels frustratingly out of reach.

The secret isn’t doing more — it’s creating consistency.

Here are 6 simple habits that can support better sleep quality:

• Keep a consistent sleep and wake time to support your body clock
• Limit caffeine later in the day
• Create a calming wind-down routine before bed
• Reduce screen time in the hour before sleep
• Keep your bedroom cool and dark
• Get natural light in the morning to regulate your sleep-wake cycle

🌙 Better sleep doesn’t happen overnight — but small changes, practiced consistently, can make nights feel more restful and mornings more manageable.

💬 Patient Story: Finding Arthritis Relief with Medical Cannabis

Living with arthritis isn’t just about joint pain — it’s about the way stiffness can shape your mornings, limit movement, and make everyday tasks feel harder than they should.
For many patients, managing chronic inflammation and discomfort can be a long journey of trial, error, and persistence.

One of our patients recently shared:

“Before cannabis, my arthritis was constant. My hands hurt all the time and doing little things felt like a lot. Working with Greenleaf, the doctor recommended a product that actually helped. I’m moving better, sleeping better, and I just feel more like myself again.”

✨ Stories like this remind us that care is personal — and symptom relief looks different for everyone.

Medical cannabis isn’t about a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s about thoughtful, clinician-guided support that considers each patient’s unique needs, goals, and quality of life.

If you’re curious about whether medical cannabis may be an option for chronic pain or arthritis symptoms, our team is here to help.

🌿 Research Spotlight: Medical Cannabis & Depression Outcomes

Depression is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide — and for many people, existing treatments don’t fully address symptoms like low mood, anxiety, poor sleep, or reduced quality of life.

A new study from the UK Medical Cannabis Registry followed patients prescribed cannabis-based medicinal products (CBMPs) for depression over two years, offering valuable real-world insight into how symptoms changed over time.

📊 What did the researchers examine?
Patient-reported outcomes were tracked at multiple time points (from 1 month up to 24 months), including:

• Depression severity
• Anxiety levels
• Sleep quality
• Health-related quality of life
• Adverse events

✨ Key findings from the study:

• Depression and anxiety scores improved at every follow-up point compared to baseline
• Sleep quality and overall quality of life also improved
• The largest symptom improvements occurred within the first 3 months
• Patients with more severe symptoms at baseline tended to see greater improvements
• Adverse effects were uncommon and mostly mild to moderate

🌿 Full-spectrum vs broad-spectrum vs isolate — what’s the difference?

If you’ve ever looked at a cannabis product label and felt unsure about terms like full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or isolate, you’re not alone.

These spectrum categories don’t simply describe strength — they describe what compounds are included in the product, and how those cannabinoids and terpenes may interact in the body.

Understanding spectrum types can be an important step in choosing a medical cannabis product that aligns with your goals, THC sensitivity, and overall treatment plan.
In our latest blog, we break down:

• What “spectrum” means in medical cannabis
• The key differences between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate products
• Why product composition matters for symptom support and tolerability
• How clinician-guided personalization can improve outcomes

🫁 Wellness Wednesday: 4 Simple Ways to Support Lung Health

Breathing is automatic — until it isn’t.
Healthy lungs play a huge role in energy levels, immune function, and how your body responds to stress.

While we can’t control everything our lungs are exposed to, we can support them with small, mindful habits.

Here are 4 simple ways to support lung health:

• Practice nasal breathing when possible — it helps filter and humidify the air
• Get outside regularly — fresh air and movement support respiratory function
• Reduce indoor irritants like smoke, heavy fragrances, and poor ventilation
• Try gentle breathwork — even a few minutes can improve awareness and relaxation

🌬️ Lung health isn’t just about avoiding harm — it’s about creating space for easier, more supported breathing every day.

🌿 Medical Cannabis & Gastrointestinal (GI) Conditions

Living with a gastrointestinal condition can be exhausting — symptoms like nausea, abdominal pain, appetite changes, and disrupted sleep can affect every part of daily life. More patients are asking:

👉 Can medical cannabis play a role in supporting GI-related symptoms?

Conditions patients often ask about include:

• Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
• Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
• Crohn’s disease
• Ulcerative colitis
• Frequent or severe abdominal discomfort
• Persistent digestive upset (bloating, gas)
• Repeated nausea or low appetite

Because cannabis interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system — which plays a role in digestion, inflammation, and nausea response — some individuals report symptom support in areas like:

✨ Nausea relief
✨ Improved appetite
✨ Pain and inflammation management
✨ Better sleep and quality of life

Research is still emerging, and outcomes vary widely depending on the condition, the individual, and the formulation used. Medical cannabis is not a cure, but it may be considered as part of a broader, clinician-guided plan.

If you’re navigating a GI condition and wondering whether medical cannabis may be appropriate, our team is here to help.

🌿 New Research Spotlight: Medical Cannabis & Endometriosis Pain Relief

Endometriosis affects millions worldwide — and for many, it comes with debilitating pelvic pain, painful periods, fatigue, and a serious impact on day-to-day quality of life.

Unfortunately, current treatment options don’t always provide full symptom relief, and side effects can make long-term management challenging.

A newly published observational cohort study from Aotearoa New Zealand (January 2026) explored something many patients have already been asking:

👉 Can medicinal cannabis help with endometriosis-related pain?

In this 3-month study, participants with clinically or surgically diagnosed endometriosis were prescribed medicinal cannabis (CBD oil alone or combined with dried cannabis flower).

Researchers tracked weekly pain scores and quality of life outcomes using standardized tools.

✨ What did they find?

Over 12 weeks:

• Participants reported reduced pelvic pain, including both overall and worst pain levels
• Quality of life scores improved significantly
• Adverse effects were limited
• Interviews revealed important themes around motivation, stigma, barriers to access, and finding the right dosage

While this wasn’t a large controlled trial, the results suggest medicinal cannabis may offer meaningful symptom support for some individuals as part of a broader treatment plan.

A new study published in the journal Pharmacy suggests that medical cannabis may be an effective treatment option for people living with chronic pain.

Researchers analyzed healthcare trends from over 5,200 chronic pain patients and found that those who used medical cannabis for at least one year reported significantly better quality of life and fewer unhealthy days compared to patients who had never used it. Long-term users also experienced slightly fewer emergency department and urgent care visits.

According to the researchers, these findings align with existing evidence and highlight not only potential improvements in daily functioning, but also possible downstream benefits for the healthcare system when chronic pain is better managed.

About Us

The Greenleaf Medical Clinic was founded in 2011 and assesses patients across Canada for their eligibility into Health Canada's Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR) program.

The ACMPR provides a legal framework for patients to legally use ma*****na for beneficial relief of various symptoms.

Our physician's role is to assess patient eligibility through chart review and/or discussions with the patients' primary care physician or specialist(s). When deemed eligible, an appointment is scheduled for either an on-site consultation or a tele-medicine appointment through VSee. Tele-medicine consultations accommodate patients that cannot travel to our clinic due to illness or distance. Tele-Medicine allows patients across the country to benefit from our services that are otherwise unavailable. In either case, the physician will complete the required medical document authorizing the patient to use cannabis as medicine.

Following the patient/physician consultation, the patient will work with one of the clinic's medical office assistants to decide on the licensed commercial producer that best suits their requirements. Strains will be recommended as per the physicians chart notes and past patient experiences.
