Love languages are simply the ways we give and receive care, attention, and connection. They are not limited to romantic relationships. They show up in how we nurture our children, stay close with friends, and care for our parents and chosen family. When we take time to express love in ways that feel meaningful to the people in our lives, we strengthen trust, deepen connection, and create moments of genuine presence. Love can be shown through time, touch, shared experiences, and thoughtful gestures that say I see you, I care, and you matter to me.

Our newest blog post by Una Gair, who is currently part of our intern program, speaks to a reality many people know too well. Mental health care in Canada is still treated as something extra rather than essential, leaving people to carry stress, anxiety, and burnout longer than they should. Una reflects on why access and timing can change everything, and what becomes possible when support is available earlier. If you have ever felt the weight building and been unsure where to turn, this thoughtful and grounded piece invites you to slow down and feel less alone.

Body based therapies play an important role in supporting overall health and well being by addressing how the body holds stress, tension and lived experience. Our bodies and nervous systems are deeply connected, and physical symptoms often reflect emotional, mental and environmental factors. Body based approaches work holistically to support regulation, resilience and healing by engaging the body directly rather than relying on talk based methods alone. These therapies can help improve body awareness, reduce stress, manage pain and support long term wellness by meeting the body where it is and helping it move toward balance.

Meet Chandan Toor, a counsellor who works with children, youth, and parents. Chanda brings a warm, person-centred, and trauma-informed approach to her practice, meeting each client where they are in their journey.

She understands that beginning therapy takes strength and vulnerability, and she honours that by creating a space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Whether someone is working through anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, parenting, or personal growth, Chandan adapts her role to what the client needs in the moment—sometimes as a listener, sometimes as a guide, and always as a collaborative partner.

Chandan integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Play Therapy, and EMDR, to provide care that fits each individual.

She offers both in-person and virtual counselling sessions. A free 15-minute consultation is available to help determine if she is the right fit.

Our Story

Many people wander through life feeling stunted, as if they are biding time rather than truly living each moment. Above all, the most common complaint we hear from our clients is that they feel stuck. Stuck in anger, frustration, stress, grief or sadness, in fear, depression or anxiety. Some are stuck in unhealthy relationships or unhealthy patterns of relating to others. For some the feeling of being stuck is new and uncomfortable, for others it has been a lifetime. This can be the result of our life experiences, our past hurts, and the pressure of day to day stressors, leaving a sense of dissatisfaction, irritability, difficulty in relationships and the feeling of being out of control. ThriveLife Counselling & Wellness is a collective of highly skilled clinicians with a shared vision and passion for promoting growth and wellness for the clients we serve. Visit our website to learn more about our counsellors and their areas of specialized practice.
