11 Benefits of Lemon Water….
Why lemons?
Lemons are packed like a clown car with nutrients, including vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber. (Fun fact: they contain more potassium than apples or grapes!)
Because of how hard lemon juice can be on the enamel of your teeth, it’s important to dilute it with water of any temperature (though lukewarm is recommended). Drink it first thing in the morning, and wait 15 to 30 minutes to have breakfast. This will help you fully receive the benefits of lemon water, which are listed below.
11 Benefits of Lemon Water
1. Gives your immune system a boost.
Vitamin C is like our immune system’s jumper cables, and lemon juice is full of it. The level of vitamin C in your system is one of the first things to plummet when you’re stressed, which is why experts recommended popping extra vitamin C during especially stressful days.
2. Excellent source of potassium.
As already mentioned, lemons are high in potassium, which is good for heart health, as well as brain and nerve function.
3. Aids digestion.
Lemon juice not only encourages healthy digestion by loosening toxins in your digestive tract, it helps to relieve symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, burping, and bloating.
4. Cleanses your system.
It helps flush out the toxins in your body by enhancing enzyme function, stimulating your liver.
5. Freshens your breath.
It also helps relieve toothaches and gingivitis. Because the citric acid can erode tooth enamel, either hold off on brushing your teeth after drinking lemon water or brush your teeth before drinking it.
6. Keeps your skin blemish-free.
The antioxidants in lemon juice help to not only decrease blemishes, but wrinkles too! It can also be applied to scars and age spots to reduce their appearance, and because it’s detoxifying your blood, it will maintain your skin’s radiance.
7. Helps you lose weight.
Lemons contain pectin fiber, which assists in fighting hunger cravings.
8. Reduces inflammation.
If you drink lemon water on a regular basis, it will decrease the acidity in your body, which is where disease states occur. It removes uric acid in your joints, which is one of the main causes of inflammation.
9. Gives you an energy boost.
Lemon juice provides your body with energy when it enters your digestive tract, and it also helps reduce anxiety and depression. (Even the scent of lemons has a calming effect on your nervous system!)
10. Helps to cut out caffeine.
I didn’t believe this until I tried it, but replacing my morning coffee with a cup of hot lemon water has really done wonders! I feel refreshed, and no longer have to deal with that pesky afternoon crash. Plus, my nerves are thankful.
11. Helps fight viral infections.
Warm lemon water is the most effective way to diminish viral infections and their subsequent sore throats. Plus, with the lemon juice also boosting your immune system, you’ll simultaneously fight off the infection completely.
How much?
For those who weigh less than 150 pounds, squeeze half a lemon’s worth of juice into a glass of water. If over 150 pounds, use an entire lemon’s juice. You can of course dilute the lemon juice more, depending on your personal taste. Not only are the benefits of lemon water endless, it’s one of the most substantial yet simple changes you can make for your health.

Seven Super Skin Hydrating Foods
1. Cucumbers: I eat them in my salads and on their own. Did you know that plain cucumber, eaten whole, makes for an awesome snack? Cucumber contains silica, an ingredient that boosts moisture and elasticity.
2. Celery: Another awesome addition to juices, celery is another hydrating food that contains skin-loving silica.
3. Chia seeds: Chia seeds are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, and foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids limit water loss in skin cells.
4. Aloe vera: Aloe vera is not only great when used topically, but it will also quench your skin’s thirst when used internally as well. Add a small amount of aloe vera to your smoothies. Too much and it will make them taste bitter.
5. Water: This one’s kind of obvious, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve a big, important mention. Up to 60% of the human body is made of water. For our body to function properly, we need to be sufficiently hydrated. It’s particularly important to have a big drink of purified water first thing in the morning to compensate for the overnight drought.
6. Avocado: Another food that is high in Omega-3 fatty acids, avocado is a true beauty food.
7. Watermelon: All fruits and veggies are great for you and your skin, but melons are particularly hydrating due to their super high water content.

7 Things to start your day off everymorning..(Set your alarm to Happy (by Pharrell)

1. Drink A Glass Of Water As Soon As You Wake Up
This rehydrates your body, revs up your digestive system, and gets things flowing. You may notice positive changes like clearer skin and better digestion. Bonus points if you add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.

2. Do Not Check Your Email Or Phone For At Least An Hour
Do you sleep with your cell phone next to you and grab for it first thing when you wake? This is not a good habit. If you choose to resist the temptation to check your email and Facebook feed until at least an hour after waking up, you'll find that your mind is more clear, focused and happy.

3. Think Of One Thing For Which You Have Gratitude
This sets the stage for positivity throughout the day. If you come up with three or five things, even better.

4. Step Outside And Take A Deep Breath
Fill your lungs with fresh air. Even if it’s cold outside. This only takes 10 seconds! It reminds you that you are alive and breathing.

5. Move Your Body
You don’t necessarily have to do an intense workout before breakfast, but moving your body even a little is a great way to get the blood flowing and shake the body into wake-up mode. Simply doing a few stretches is a great option. Or turn on your favorite song and dance like no one is watching.

6. Take Time To Eat A Healthy Breakfast
Rather than reaching for a box of cereal, focus on getting real foods in your body. Eggs, soaked oats, and smoothies are all great options. (And they really don’t take that much time to prepare.) Try it out.

7. Say Your Affirmations
Look into the mirror and say something positive to yourself. Some ideas:
• I radiate beauty, confidence and grace.
• Every cell in my body is healthy and vibrant.
• I feel great when I take care of myself.

Top 10 Stress BUSTING tips to support healthy adrenal glands:
1. Perspective. You can’t completely eliminate stress from your life, but you can change how you react to it. Realistically visualizing the long-term consequences of the situation can help you put things into perspective.
2. Learn how to relax. Practicing deep breathing techniques will slow your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and relax your muscles; neutralizing your body’s response to stress
3. Exercise regularly. Exercise provides the body with an opportunity to burn off accumulated stress hormones as well as serves as one of the most powerful relaxation tools.
4. Restore your sleep. Create good sleep hygiene by turning off the TV, computer, or blackberry and establish early bedtime routines to match your body’s hormone rhythm.
5. Watch what you eat. Refined sugars, caffeine, alcohol, and processed foods can exacerbate the stress response. Eat plenty of colourful veggies and fruits, whole grains, good fats and free range, hormone and antibiotic free lean proteins. Be sure to include at least 1-2 litres of filtered water daily.
6. Balance your hormones. Hormone imbalance itself is a stress on the body. Balancing your hormone levels will help optimize the function of the adrenal, thyroid, and other glands.
7. De-clutter. Mess creates confusion, chaos and a sense of loss of power. If your desk/home/car is messy and disorganized, have a good clear out and tidy up. You’ll instantly feel more in control.
8. Manage your time. Make a “to-do” list and check off items as you complete them. Prioritize tasks and then work on the most important ones. Delegate less important tasks and schedule extra time for tasks, in case of interruptions.
9. Think POSITIVE and DO something you love every day! Don’t get so caught up in the chaos that you forget to take care of your own needs. Nurturing yourself is a necessity. Spend time with positive people who enhance your life. Make time for leisure activities that bring you joy, whether it is walking in the park, going for tea with a good friend or getting a massage.
10. Take an adrenal gland supporting formula with adaptagenic herbs such as, siberian ginseng, and ashwagandha to help reduce stress, improve energy and promote restful sleep. Adaptogens such as these are greatly appreciated for a wide variety of actions; to help fight fatigue, reduce the levels of stress hormones circulating in the body, enhance mental and physical performance, and increase the body’s capacity to cope with stress..

If you want your brain to work at full power, you want to manage two things; good fats and an even flow of glucose. Your best bet is to have nuts for breakfast with very low glycemic carbs and fish for lunch. Glucose is the fuel your brain burns but it is the good fats that build the cells in the first place. Most of us have too many carbohydrates in the morning, which pumps glucose to the brain, makes you feel awake but can make you feel foggy as your blood sugar drops after digestion.
