Making the most of this winter weather 🥶❄️
On one of our snowiest days, we turned the fresh snowfall into sweet snow sundaes with chocolate drizzle, a big hit with our retirement residents!
LTC residents got creative with paper snowmen, and a few shoppers enjoyed a Walmart outing where they found cheerful Valentine's displays. Winter fun is always better together 💙

Love That Comes Home...

John and Helen Bergen have shared a lifetime together — 73 years of marriage, four children, sixteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. A family tree rooted deeply in love, faith, and togetherness.

For many years, John and Helen made their home in the Garden Condominiums here at Leamington Mennonite Home. As their needs changed, they moved together into our Assisted Living Retirement building, continuing their journey side by side, supported by community.

Helen spent three long months in hospital following shoulder surgery. Though John was able to visit her during her stay, the separation was not easy. Home, for them, has always meant being together.

This photo doesn’t need a caption as it captures the moment Helen returned, reunited with John after those months apart. A moment that truly says a thousand words.

When asked about that day, Helen smiled and said it was one of the best days of her life. Right up there with the day she married John… the births of her children… her grandchildren… and her great-grandchildren.

“It was so good to be back at home,” she said.

At Leamington Mennonite Home, love lives here, in lifelong partnerships, in family connections, in moments of reunion, and in the community that surrounds the residents with care and compassion every day.

This February, as we celebrate Valentine’s Day, we invite you to reflect on love like John and Helen’s, the kind of love that endures, supports, and comes home.

Give from the Heart to help build a new future LMH Assisted Living Retirement Residence.

If you feel moved to do so, you can show your love by making a gift in support of the residents who call LMH home. Your generosity helps sustain the relationships, care, and sense of belonging that mean everything. 100% of all donations directly impact residents and their loved ones.

🩷 Because love is what makes a place a home.

January is Mental Wellness Month 🩵

As we step into a new year, January offers a gentle reminder to care not only for our physical health, but for our emotional and mental well-being too. After the busyness of the holiday season, this month invites us to slow down, reflect, and embrace habits that support peace, balance, and resilience.

At the Leamington Mennonite Home, we believe wellness is holistic, caring for the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. Small, sustainable practices can make a meaningful difference, such as:

- Taking moments of mindfulness and gratitude
- Protecting time for rest and renewal
- Spending time in quiet prayer and reflection
- Prioritizing sleep, nourishing meals, and connection with others
- Reaching out for support when needed, none of us are meant to walk alone

Caring for our mental wellness strengthens not only our hearts and minds, but our overall health as well. As a faith-based community, we continue to encourage compassion, understanding, and open conversations, for our residents, staff, families, and one another.

Let January be a season of kindness, especially toward yourself.

A Community of Care

The Leamington Mennonite Home & Apartments is a faith-centered, charitable, non-profit organization supported by eight Mennonite Brethren Churches in our community. Founded in 1964 in response to the growing needs of seniors, our community of care provides holistic care and support to seniors and the frail elderly. Our Home is the only not-for-profit Home in Southwestern Ontario.

We seek to provide the best possible individualized care to all of our residents. Our community of care enables seniors and the frail elderly to age in one retirement community that can respond to all their needs. This is a visionary model - our organization consists of the Long Term Care Home, Retirement Residence, Homeview and Pickwick Apartments, Gardens Condominiums, and Heritage Townhouses.
