đź’ Are you the peacemaker in the room?
Always smoothing things over, staying “easygoing,” and putting everyone else first?

You might:
🔹 Take on the duty role
🔹 Suppress your own (healthy) anger
🔹 Feel responsible for everyone’s emotions
🔹 Obsess over meeting others’ emotional needs

Sounds familiar?

👉🏽 Research shows that chronic emotional suppression like this can take a physical toll — and peacemakers may be more likely to develop autoimmune diseases.

🧠 Your body keeps the score. People-pleasing isn’t just exhausting — it can be dangerous.

💥 You’re allowed to take up space. You’re allowed to feel anger. You’re allowed to not fix everything.

Your peace shouldn’t come at the cost of your health.

🎬 If your life were a movie…
What would the audience be screaming for you to do right now?

Leave the relationship?
Quit the job?
Take the risk?
Finally rest?

Sometimes we’re so deep in the plot, we forget we’re the main character — and it’s time for a turning point.

đź‘€ Zoom out. What would the bravest version of you choose?

Ever had a reaction that felt way bigger than the situation called for?
That’s not you being dramatic — that’s your nervous system remembering something you might not even be conscious of.

“If it’s hysterical, it’s historical” is a trauma-informed reminder that intense emotional reactions often have roots in the past, not just the present moment.

It’s not about overreacting — it’s about unfinished business from your story still asking to be seen.

The good news?
You’re not broken.
You’re responding the way you were wired to survive.
And healing is how we start writing a new ending.

Sometimes it’s not love we’re feeling — it’s the relief of being chosen.
Or the comfort of not being alone.
Or the distraction from our own wounds.

When fear is in the driver’s seat — fear of abandonment, fear of starting over, fear of being “too much” or “not enough” — we can minimize red flags, deflect hard truths, avoid honest conversations, and even get defensive when someone gently points out the unhealthy stuff.

But that part of you that does all of this?
It’s not weak. It’s protective.
It learned somewhere that settling was safer than solitude. That chaos was normal. That love should feel like a rollercoaster.

And unlearning that?
That’s the real work.

🖤 You’re not broken. You’re becoming aware.
🖤 You don’t have to confuse survival strategies for soulmates.

What is shadow work?

This is connecting to vulnerable parts of self that we are often disconnected from. These parts hold past experiences of wounding, pain, sadness, longing, fear, grief and much more.

We often want to skip right to the enlightenment phase because this feels in some ways better, and often safer.

It may be a protective part of self that wants to move straight into your “love and light” era. This protective part is not wrong or bad, just trying to protect you (as it likely has always done) from you feeling shadow parts of self.

If you want to get curious of your shadow parts, leaning into the vulnerability of this work so you can more authentically feel into your “love and light” era, therapy can support you with this.

Reach out, we are here for you in your curiosity of your inner world!

Counselling That Works

Whether e-counselling or in person counselling, my client centered approach means you have a hand in what we discuss and where our conversation goes. I work with adults and post-secondary students addressing mental health challenges: anxiety (social/generalized), depression, trauma, attachment, life transitions, self-esteem/personal identity, stress management, and relationships. I enjoy helping you to identify both healthy and unhealthy patterns, enabling you to gain awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Together we will work to regain some control in your life.

I have an Undergraduate in Social Work, Master of Counselling, and am a Registered Clinical Social Worker. Our work will draw on mental health techniques such as CBT, Emotion Focused techniques, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR, somatic/body-focused approaches, and strength-based approaches.

Sessions are confidential counselling. I understand that coming into counselling can sometimes be an intimidating process. It is my goal to create a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental environment for you to explore and process.

I look forward to starting this journey alongside you.
