Meet Dr. Haitsma
"Chiropractic is part of the healthy lifestyle puzzle; we don’t have all the answers but have a very important role to play." When he was a university student, Dr. Haitsma was involved in a car accident that resulted in him having horrible headaches. “They hurt so much. I was told by a doctor that I had a concussion but was just told to put ice on my head and take pills.”
Dr. Ha
itsma followed the doctor’s orders but still had raging headaches. Then one night, he met a chiropractor at his neighbor’s barbecue. “I told him my story and he said, ‘why don’t you come see me; maybe I can help you.'”
Though Dr. Haitsma didn’t know about chiropractic, he did know that what he was doing wasn’t helping that much. “The doctor that helped me was a classic chiropractor. He told me what he was doing and why and it made a lot of sense to me. That experience changed my life and I decided to become a chiropractor.”
When he’s not at the practice, Dr. Haitsma loves gardening and tending his flowers. An avid hiker and fly fisherman, he and his wife Veronica enjoy exploring the trails and rivers of Southwest Alberta. Their daughter and son-in-law live in New York City and they have another son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren that live nearby so they enjoy getting together with them often.
