Hey moms and parents!
This is a question I get a lot and the answer is YES! Check your benefit plan to be sure - it is often listed under paramedical providers similar to physiotherapy and speech-language pathology.
As a profession, we are actively advocating for more health insurance companies to cover OT and we are making headway as more and more people see the benefits of OT.
If you don't have coverage but would love to have support for you or your child please reach out - we have options that can help!

✨ Meet Your Guides ✨
We’re Cindy & Tanya — the women holding space for the Becoming postpartum support series, a 6-week online series for moms in Alberta.
We created Becoming as a gentle, nurturing space to help you reconnect to yourself, breathe, and move from overwhelm toward ease. 💛
Cindy brings expertise as an Occupational Therapist specializing in perinatal mental health, guiding moms through the emotional and physical demands of postpartum and motherhood with practical support and somatic practices like yoga nidra and yin yoga.
Tanya is a Holistic Health Practitioner, doula, and mother of three. She supports whole-person healing — physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual, helping women reconnect to the parts of themselves that can feel lost postpartum.
🌿 Together, we guide you to:
• Feel held and supported
• Reconnect with yourself
• Build calm and grounding in your day-to-day

If the holidays feel loud, fast, and overwhelming…
this is your reminder that you’re allowed to do Christmas your way. 🎄
Here are a few gentle ways to protect your energy this season, as a highly sensitive, introverted mom:
✨ Don’t overschedule — it’s okay to say no to what doesn’t feel exciting
✨ Prep ahead and share the mental load with your partner
✨ Keep things simple — one or two traditions is more than enough
✨ Focus on quiet, meaningful moments together
✨ Release the pressure to create a “perfect” Christmas — your child will remember how it felt
✨ Set loving boundaries around what you will and won’t do
✨ Choose calmer shops with less noise and stimulation
✨ Schedule intentional quiet time (even short pockets matter)
✨ Consider reducing your social media consumption
✨ Don’t skip your regulating routines — keep your calming tools close
You don’t need to push through the season on empty.
There is a softer way. 🤍

You don’t have to be at your breaking point to deserve support.
You don’t have to prove that you’re struggling “enough.”
And you don’t have to carry this season alone.
So many moms come into this space feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, unsure of themselves.
But slowly, they begin to feel lighter, calmer, more connected — not because they’re “fixed,” but because they’re finally supported, held, and seen.
If you’ve been quietly wishing for a place where you can just be, this might be for you. 🤍
No pressure. Just a gentle invitation.
Becoming is a space for rest, honesty and real connection and it:

Therapy doesn’t always happen in a clinic — sometimes it looks like a walk, a chat on the floor at your home, or supporting a mom right where she’s at. 💛
That’s the heart of my work as an Occupational Therapist — meeting you in your real life, helping you find calm, confidence, and connection in motherhood. It’s about being seen, supported, and reminded that you’re doing better than you think. 🌿
That's my kind of therapy. 💛

Homemade fall-scented playdough is one of our favorite OT-approved activities for building fine motor skills, hand strength, and sensory exploration — and it makes your home smell amazing while you play! 🍎
It’s the perfect cozy activity for a windy fall day — keeps little hands busy, minds engaged, and hearts happy. ✨

To the mom you’re becoming — a love letter from a maternal health OT. 💌
This season isn’t about getting it all right.
It’s about growing into the woman and mother you want to be — gently, imperfectly, and with so much grace. 🤍
You’re learning, unlearning, and remembering that you matter too.
Your needs, your rest, your joy — they’re not extras. They’re essentials.
No one is better suited to love and guide your children than you.
Let’s choose grace over guilt.
Presence over perfection.
Intention over overwhelm.
You are becoming — and that becoming is beautiful. 🌿

💛 OTs support mental health.
We help people living with mental health challenges engage in meaningful activity and improve overall well-being.
Taking care of mental health helps us cope with stress, make positive choices, and maintain meaningful connections. Occupational therapists understand that mental, emotional, and physical health are all connected.
✨ Here’s how an OT can help:
✅ Assess mental, emotional & physical health to see how it affects daily life
✅ Create personalized therapy plans built on strengths & goals
✅ Build everyday skills like stress management & healthy routines
✅ Encourage activities & hobbies to boost mood and self-esteem
✅ Teach coping strategies for stress and anxiety
✅ Recommend environment changes to reduce stressors
✅ Collaborate with family, community & healthcare providers for holistic care
Sometimes it’s the little quirks and contradictions that make us who we are — and honestly, leaning into them is part of finding balance. ✨
Whether it’s craving bedtime at 9 p.m., buying another journal, or indulging in ice cream despite lactose intolerance, it’s all part of the messy, human, perfectly imperfect life we’re living. 🌿
At New Heights, we believe wellness isn’t about perfection. It’s about noticing what fills you up, giving yourself compassion, and making space for what matters most.
