I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and here’s to an all around better year ahead for each and every one of us! I hope 2022 brings positivity and peace to you and yours as we hopefully move out of the pandemic and into more of a normal, consistent routine.

I have some important and exciting news to share. In February I will be moving my business from RX Cosmetics to Reveal Medi Spa downtown Lindsay. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the awesome ladies at RX and will miss seeing them daily, but I am also so excited for them to have grown so much over these past few years to need to expand into the space I leased from them! There certainly are some exciting changes at RX happening! So as a result of all these awesome changes, I will be relocating my business to join another wonderful team of ladies at Reveal Medi Spa as of Feb 14th!

Up until Feb 11, you can still book online with me at rxcosmetics.ca or by calling 705-934-4792. For any appointments on Feb 14th or after, please book online at revealmedispa.ca or by calling 705-934-3995.

I hope to have my new calendar up and running in the next few days, but any of you who have already pre-booked appt’s past Feb 11th at RX, I will first move your appointments over to the new schedule (which will be the same hours) before it goes live so your appointments will be secured for the same date and time. You will receive confirmation of your moved appointment.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, you can reach me directly at 705-341-8515 (call/text) or by emailing info@liannemackeyrmt.ca and I will get back to you as soon as possible!

This is a bittersweet change for me. I will thoroughly miss the RX ladies who I love so dearly, but as much as I will miss seeing them every day, I am equally as excited for this new adventure ahead of me!

Reveal is currently located just north of the Academy Theater at 12 Lindsay St. N and that is where I will be until the renovations of their new location are complete on Cambridge Street. When that move happens, you will be made aware when you book your appointment. But for now, I just want to let you know that their current location has a parking lot behind them, which is accessible off of Kent St E. Turn alongside the Academy Theater and you will see parking on your left.

Thank you for your continued support and for trusting me with your care. I look forward to another fantastic year with you!

Cheers to good health!

I have some great news! On May 27th, the CMTO notified RMT’s that we can gradually begin to reopen as a result of updates to the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health’s Directive #2 for Regulated Health Professionals. While I am thrilled with this news, it also comes with a very long list of training to be completed, personal protective equipment to be acquired and safety protocols that must be in place before I am able to reopen. I also have to consider the challenges of childcare with all daycares and summer camps currently closed/cancelled.

The guidelines and requirements set forth for me to safely reopen my treatment space are extensive and require a significant amount of time to go through and prepare for. I plan on taking next week to get everything into place and set up so I can reopen the following week.

So, that being said, I am looking at returning to work the week of June 8th, with a gradual schedule of clients. I have set up the online booking system in Lindsay with hour-long appt’s available as the default max length (so I can force the schedule to allow extra time between clients). If you require a longer massage appointment, or you have trouble using the system, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly and I can assist you. As always, you can also email/text or call me to schedule your appointment as well.

Some things you will have to be aware of and take note of are:

- It is mandatory for me that reopening be gradual with urgent clients having priority. This means fewer clients will be seen each day to limit potential exposure. This does not mean I can only see clients with urgent care needs, but I am required to prioritize those clients as they require treatment.
- I must also pre-screen you when you arrive for covid-19 symptoms and potential exposure.
- You will be required to come to your appointment with a clean disposable or reusable mask. If you do not have your own mask, one will be provided, there may be a fee. If you are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, you must let me know before your appointment.
-You will need to arrive alone if at all possible and at your designated appointment time. If you arrive early, I ask that you wait in your car until your appointment time.
- You will be asked to perform hand sanitizing on arrival and before you leave.
- Payment should be contact free, either by e-transfer sent prior to arriving, or debit/credit card at the end of your treatment.
- I will need to schedule more time in between appointments to thoroughly clean the treatment room and area between clients. This again will mean I have fewer appointments available in my day.

As changes in recommendations from the Ministry of Health continue to come to health care providers, some of these guidelines may change again or new guidelines may be added. Thank you for your patience as I navigate the new regulations and rules.

If I can answer any questions that you have about my return to work, what protocols I will have in place, or about what has been happening with your health since we last met, I am happy to answer those, please just reply to this email.

I look forward to seeing you again!

Hi everyone! Another update here. It’s been a while since my last post and as the world around us continues to change almost daily, I need to update you all since my last post. I’ve limited social media the past few days (which has been a lovely break!), instead focusing on activities with my kids and tackling some projects at home. I figured today I should check in, so I just jumped back on to get caught up with the latest in COVID-19 news and I see that the government (and therefore my College as well) has now ordered all RMT’s to stop working completely, no longer allowing even urgent care. As always, I will still be available to you if you want to call/email and I will do my best to offer suggestions you can try at home! All my best to each and every one of you. Stay home, stay active and stay healthy and I’ll see you on the other side of this! 💕

I hope you are doing well and staying healthy while at home. To help curve some aches and pains you may be experiencing during this stressful period, I offer you the following tips:

Although we are told to stay home, this does not mean we aren’t to get fresh air every single day. The forecast for this coming week looks beautiful, so go for a walk and keep that beautiful heart working and your blood flowing! It does wonders for the body and the mind.

If you are experiencing neck pain from reading more or from an increase in use of hand held devices, try to keep your neck stretched and limber every day to stay ahead of any issues. When soreness does present itself, stretch mildly into the pain and hold for 3 seconds before releasing and repeat. Often headaches that appear across your forehead and eyes can be relieved with pressure on the back of your neck at the base of your skull. I know many of you already know this trick, but a couple of small balls tied into the toe of a sock works wonders to relieve pressure points there. Simply lay on a comfortable flat surface and place the balls at the base of your skull where it is tender and lay that way until the pain releases. Then you may reposition by turning your head slightly one way or another to find another sore spot and release that. A towel may be needed underneath the balls to lift them high enough to provide the needed pressure. Use your judgement and do what feels best.

Heat around your neck will also help to relieve tight muscles there.

Low back pain may be an issue for those of you who find yourself sitting more than you are used to. To combat this, lay on your back and bring your knees to your chest and gently stretch. You can rock your knees gently side to side or stretch one knee at a time to your opposite shoulder. A significant amount of lower back pain is caused from weak glute muscles due to a lot of sitting. You can strengthen your glutes (and thereby reduce back pain) by doing some simple exercises. Try laying on your bed with your knees bent and feet flat on the bed and then lift your hips up off of the bed and hold for 3 seconds before lowering your hips back to the bed. You can repeat this for as long as you are able. Or you could try squats with your feet about shoulder width apart and your knees slightly bent and hold for 3 seconds, then repeat for as long as you are able. Both these will target the glutes and help activate and strengthen them so they are able to do their job.

You know your body best. Listen to it. If anything you are doing is causing pain or you know you are unable to do any of these stretches or strengthening exercises due to a pre-existing condition, please do not try them. If you are unsure, reach out to me and we’ll talk about it.

As always, keep up with your water intake and keep those muscles well hydrated and happy!

I look forward to seeing you all when this is over and hearing about all of the ways you enjoyed (or survived) your families! Let’s remember to be kind and look out for our vulnerable neighbours- they may need us now more than ever.

If you have any questions, please email or call me. I’m here for you and would be happy to offer my help to you so you can work through any issues you may be facing while at home.

All my very best to you and yours,
See you on the other side of this!

As we continue moving forward with this unprecedented situation, I’ve been fielding a lot of questions about what is and isn’t acceptable for seeking massage during this time. I am sending out this email to clarify new recommendations that have just been released, and these come directly from my governing body. I will share them with you here:

“COVID-19 Update – Directive from Chief Medical Officer and FAQs for RMTs

The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) understands how passionate Ontario’s Massage Therapists (MTs/RMTs) are about treating and caring for clients, and ensuring the wellbeing of clients during this pandemic. We know this has been an unprecedented and challenging time for healthcare professionals and the healthcare system. The safety of the public, including Massage Therapists, is our top priority.

Chief Medical Officer of Health – Directive for Healthcare Providers
CMTO provided guidance to the profession strongly recommending that RMTs suspend all non-essential Massage Therapy treatments.

CMTO believes that this is an important step in protecting the health of Ontarians, and aligns with public health and government social distancing recommendations.
CMTO understands the pressure that RMTs may be experiencing from clients, employers and others, and we appreciate the challenges RMTs are facing to balance many competing interests, including the health of clients and the broader community.

Subsequent to CMTO’s guidance, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issued a formal directive to healthcare providers pursuant to the Health Protection and Promotion Act ordering that all non-essential and elective services be ceased or reduced to minimal levels until further notice, with allowable exceptions for time sensitive circumstances to avert or avoid negative patient outcomes or situations that would have a direct impact on the safety of client.

This directive applies to all regulated health professionals and persons who operate a group practice of regulated health professionals (e.g. clinic owners).”

Those few of you with serious ongoing issues will still be seen if you feel unable to cope on your own, however, and this is very important, I will only accept booking done directly through me and not at all through the online booking software until all of this is over. Any booking done online will not be recognized. This is to ensure that I am able to take the following precautions:

1. I will be spacing clients out to no more than 1 per day. I don’t anticipate needing to see the majority of you over the coming few weeks, but as a further precaution I would prefer to skip days between client appt’s. We know (from the most recently available scientific data) that this virus has an airborne life of up to 3 hours and the ability to survive on some surface for up to 3 days. Spacing you out as much as possible and thoroughly sterilizing every surface before and after each visit will keep the office space as safe as possible. No one else will be using the office during this time.
2. For your added safety as well as the safety of my family, I will wear a mask the entire time I am in the office. If possible, I recommend you wear one as well.

Hopefully everyone will be able to manage at home over the next while, but if you are worried about your health or have questions for me, please reach out and I will do my best to help. We’re in this together.

Stay healthy everyone!

To all my wonderful clients,

I recognize that there is a lot of uncertainty, stress and worry surrounding everything that is going on in the world around us right now.

Many of you rely on your massage treatments as a means of coping with debilitating pain, staying ahead of migraines and chronic headaches, as well as a way to curb stress and anxiety. I want to assure all of you, that I will continue to remain open and you will not be left without the help you rely on.

I am taking extra precautions right now, which include spacing my clients out to allow extra time to clean and sterilize all surfaces between client appointments.

It goes without saying, that if you are feeling unwell and have any of the symptoms associated with this covid-19, please stay home and take care of yourself. The health and safety of all my clients is of utmost importance to me.

So if you are in need of a massage, please call/text/email me and I will schedule you in. I would prefer you to contact me directly so I can override the automated appointment availability that is shown with the online booking software. This will allow me to space everyone out safely.

All the best to you and your families, stay healthy (AND sane!) over the coming weeks 😉

Sincerely,

Lianne

With the COVID-19 causing full swing closures and cancellations of many events and services, I wanted to take a moment to address my clients and let them know that we are following protocol to make sure that our business is as safe as it possibly can be for you. In this instance, as is during every flu season, the following steps are being taken to ensure your safety:

1. Handwashing is the first, foremost and fiercest protection from spreading this infection. As massage therapists, we probably wash our hands more than most people. During this time, we are all stepping up our game and there is hand sanitizer present in every room for added protection.
2. COVID-19 typically isn’t easily spread through airborne particles. Instead it is more likely to be transmitted through touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
What this means is we can demonstrate our dedication to hygiene and safety by cleaning not only our table and massage equipment, but also our doorknobs, light switches, cellphones, keyboards and anything else we or you as our clients, touch.
3. COVID-19 does not appear to cause serious disease in most younger people who are fundamentally healthy. For people with autoimmune or chronic lung problems, this is a different situation.
If you have an appointment booked and are worried because you fall into this category, we will gladly reschedule your appointment.
4. Take excellent care of your own health. This is not the time to push your limits for getting enough sleep, or eating healthy food.

And above all, avoid panicking, and get your information from credible sources.
