Some very special visitors stopped by the shop today. 🐾💛
Meet Brynna and Bracken, two very happy golden retrievers who came in after seeing our email about the new Mad Dogs dog grooming products. They were clearly on a mission to pick up some shampoo, conditioner, and detangling lotion to keep those beautiful coats looking their best!
Of course, they didn’t come alone — their wonderful human Barb came with them. Barb is a familiar face around here and a regular student in our soapmaking classes, so it was extra nice to see the whole crew.
Moments like this are one of the joys of running a small shop — catching up with great people and meeting their equally wonderful dogs.
Brynna and Bracken definitely get our vote for Best Coats in Town. 🐕🐕✨

Despite feeling a bit under the weather today, I still managed to whip up a fresh batch of beer soap. 🍺🧼
This one is made with Pie Eyed Monk's Amber Ale — a beautiful medium-bodied brew with balanced maltiness and a light piney hop character. The ingredients are simple and classic: water, barley, hops, yeast, and wheat.
To complement the beer, I scented the batch with Sandalwood Amber fragrance oil, giving it a warm, rich, slightly earthy scent. And of course, I finished it off with a sprinkle of whole hops on top.
Now it’s off to cure… and I’m off to rest.
Some days you just make soap anyway. 💛

🐶 Big News at Gridley’s!
We now carry Mad Dogs dog grooming products — including shampoos, conditioner, detangling lotion, and sprays.
This one is personal.
Gridley’s owner Michele has been a lifelong cat lover, but in 2023 she got her first dog, Willoughby — a sweet, loving, slightly mischievous Dutch Sheepdog who lives for his weekly Agility training sessions.
Last year someone recommended Mad Dogs products for him. Michele tried them and was so impressed that — for the first time ever — she decided to bring another company’s products into the shop.
Customers often ask us for dog shampoos and conditioners. Michele even considered making them herself, but after attending a workshop at a soap makers conference she realized this is a highly specialized craft. Instead, she chose a brand she fully trusts.
❤️ Even better — Mad Dogs is a Canadian company that partners with the Autism Society of Laval.
Products are packaged through socio-professional workshops at Bioferme Laval, an organic farm that provides adapted employment for adults with autism and intellectual disabilities.

When you buy a Mad Dogs product, bring it to our Perfume Bar and choose from a variety of dog-friendly scents. Our staff will custom scent your product for you on the spot!
