A tiny screw can cause a big problem!
Construction sites are full of hidden dangers, and stepping on a screw through your shoe can lead to serious injuries — from deep puncture wounds to infections like tetanus or even bone infections. Even if it doesn’t feel bad at first, these injuries can become severe quickly.

Tips from our Chiropodist:
• Always wear sturdy, puncture-resistant footwear on worksites.
• If you step on a screw, don’t ignore it — clean the wound, get it assessed by a healthcare professional, and check your tetanus status.
• Watch for redness, swelling, or pain, which could signal infection.

Yesterday we had an emergency call about an injury and although our schedule was packed we always see emergencies when necessary. You’ll never believe it but a panini press fell on this toe and essentially amputated the toenail and caused quite a deep laceration. After a quick local anesthetic we were able to fix it and get this patient on their way with a prescription in hand!
