This heart opener is a variation between child's pose and downward facing dog.
This pose reaches into your heart and works to open this space to all your beautiful love inside. This pose can also open up the shoulders, armpits, neck and naturally turn into a little back bend.
You begin in table top ( on your hands and knees )
Shoulders are over your wrists and hips are over your knees.
Slowly and lovingly begin to walk your hands forward letting your chin and heart come down to the mat.
Glutes point to the sky.
Arms are stretched out in front of you.
Forhead can rest on the earth OR you can open this space deeper by resting your chin on the mat and bringing the gaze forward.
Find your comfortable breath and rest here feeling your heart and shoulders open while breathing softness into the shoulder, the jaw, your toes and eyes.

For the last 3 years we have been indulging in the idea of opening our own business. With many ups and downs and “Yes’s” that turned to “No’s”, here we stand, hand in hand with the universe at work.
We wouldn’t be ready like we are without the experience we have gained on this journey. We moved from our loving village of Lawrencetown once we found out that we were pregnant and began searching for a place to begin. To grow. With many hours banked, multiple “hopes” being crushed, and let down after let down, a whisper in Nova Scotia was calling to us. We left all and decided that the life of gypsies was more appealing than the life of routine. We have traveled all across these lands from Yarmouth to Meat Cove, Cape Breton. From Amherst to Sheet Harbor. We went as far as we could from coast to coast to coast to coast, stopping everywhere in between and we decided on three places that we loved in River John, Mahone Bay, and Liverpool as we were looking for a home to buy and a business to own. We have been so close to getting several spaces and were even accepted for a $20,000 loan from CBDC and a $90 000 pre-approval from TD Bank and still everything fell through. Everything from electricians making mistakes to enzymes harboring in water wells stood in our way for years.
Go it on our own means with an amazing cast of angels instead of fancy suits:
Having both sets of our parents allow us to stay at their places while pregnant, and after the babies were born. Having a family that has helped us build all the furniture for our shop, help plumb and wire everything that needed to be done. Two sisters who helped create our logo & lent us money to be able to buy ALL our food product. A landlord that is renting our shop unit to us for $50 a month for the first couple months so we can get off our feet and also provide us an apartment to live in. The amount of meals that both our parents have made us and brought us during this time. The tires that we couldn't afford, ball joints we couldn’t fix, the rust we couldn’t sand, and the metal we couldn’t weld. The nights we were able to spend when we had to go back into town. The CRAZY amount of support from all our friends and family in this process and SO many times that we have gotten our own hopes up as well as theirs only to be destroyed soon after. To all the beautiful people that CONTINUE to love and support us and cherish our hopes and dreams and our little ones... THANK YOU.
Because of you:
We bought a piece of land in beautiful Liverpool and here is where it began. We built our first home with our own two hands, having NO knowledge or experience on how to complete such tasks. All our plans were written on a small lined note pad. While battling this task we were also living in a tent for 100 days & taking care of two one year old twins!
Winter came along, we had yet to install a source of heat and were living in minus degree weather with a generator and small space heater to keep us warm. Here’s to trying our best! (:
We now had to find a space to live through the winter months. Who would have known that your own exhale would be the cause to all your moisture problems during weather suited for a penguin??? Not to mention that it’s illegal to live in a recreational vehicle all year round in Nova Scotia. Which is the technical term for the home we built on the back of a hauling trailer. Here’s how that came to be:
After a few weeks of planning and grooming our land while living in our tent on our land, we had many visits. First by the many neighbors in the community wondering what in the heck we were doing with babies in a tent living outside. Then, the RCMP, child services, fire inspector and building code dude along with the town by-law officer. All of these visits were met with open doors (zippers) and handshakes or hugs. Everybody visited once. Everyone except some of our neighbors. The RCMP were happy with our explanations and child services was elated to learn that we were two college educated adults with a good head on our shoulders. They were both quick visits, never to return. Those who did return brought gifts. None more than a man three weeks away from his deathbed, Bunga. His niece stopped by first and explained that her uncle was riddled with cancer and had a camper trailer he was giving to her brother. He was just going to turn it into a hunting camp but when she told Bunga about us living in a tent, he insisted that his dying wish be that it go to us. Well, that afternoon, a trailer arrived by her husband who’s a race car driver and was able to back that sucker down a yet to be built driveway that consisted of tree roots and other debris. What else could be the definition of angels, I beg to question. That’s how our tiny home came to be. After the trailer demo, we began our build.
When we first moved here we met a beautiful woman who helped us get the opportunity of The Natural Grind rolling. Without my husband meeting her to talk about essential oils we would never have made it here today.
We emailed her months later wondering about a space she had mentioned connected to her shop that we could spend the winter in. A one bedroom apartment. Luckily, that space was becoming available for January 1st so that’s how we spent our New Year Day.
While meeting with our landlord and discussing the idea of opening our own business, our eyes glimmered and our hearts grew anxious. It was time. He was who was whispering all this time all the way from Liverpool. The beautiful women who helped us find this opportunity was actually in the process of her exit strategy and the space that was her shop was becoming available as well. The rose began it’s growth from the depths of the concrete.
With no loans, and now no jobs, we understand that every penny we have is going to be invested in this and that’s how it was always meant to be. We just didn’t know it, yet.
We are coming into this with NOTHING in the eyes of a bank, business coordinator, even most of modern society... But to us? We have everything when you come from a tent. Everything was during our times of our nothing so now, nothing seems like everything.
So here we are, giving this place everything we have, so that a dream can come alive. So a rose may blossom.
Now, we know that all we need is YOU and with your continued help & support, we can grow. We can flourish and we can provide you and our family the product, love, and life that we all need and deserve. One grind at a time.
Much love, and great happiness to you all.
Can’t wait to meet the rest of you soon! Stop in! We’ll need you to get those petals. Don’t ask us “why.” Ask us, “how.”
