We often think breast health is just about imaging…but what happens between scans matters too.

Small daily choices add up - not perfectly, just consistently.

Our bodies are constantly processing hormones, environmental exposures, and the products we use every day. Over time, that can influence inflammation, detox pathways, and how breast tissue functions.

A few simple ways to support your body:
• Choose cleaner personal care products when you can
• Be mindful of what goes on your skin (it’s absorbable)
• Filter your water if possible
• Reduce exposure to synthetic fragrances
• Focus on whole, minimally processed foods
• Support detox pathways with movement, hydration, and fibre

This isn’t about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about awareness and giving your body a little more support where you can.

Because breast health isn’t just structural…
it’s functional too.

I was always “low risk” for breast cancer… until I wasn’t.

I’ve worked in thermography for years and had my own breast scans done many times.

But after my hysterectomy, my results changed and both breasts shifted into a higher risk category.

That stopped me in my tracks.

Because this is the part we don’t talk about enough…Hormonal changes can influence how breast tissue behaves.

Not just how it looks like - lumps or structural changes - but how it functions.

Estrogen, progesterone, and how they’re balanced (or not) can affect:
• inflammation
• vascular activity
• how heat patterns show up in the body

Sometimes long before anything is felt.

That experience changed how I look at breast health, not just structurally, but functionally.

If you've ever wondered whether hormonal changes could be influencing your breast tissue, this is exactly the kind of insight thermography is designed to look at.

For women who want a different lens on breast health!

One of the things I’ve learned through thermography is that the body rarely operates in isolation.

Areas like dental health, thyroid function, and cranial patterns can give us additional insight into what’s happening beneath the surface.

There is a growing discussion around how chronic dental infections, especially those that are silent - may play a roll in overall health patterns, inlcuding breast health.

I will be away for a short time this spring ✈️

Paradigm Thermography will be closed from May 4 – June 22 while I’m in Europe 🇩🇰🇳🇱🇸🇪

Because reports take about 2 weeks to be completed and reviewed, I want to make sure everyone receives their results in a timely way before I leave.

👉 That means limited appointment availability leading up to May 4.

If you’ve been thinking about booking, now is a great time to get in before the break.

Appointments will resume again after June 22.

INFLAMMATORY BREAST CANCER- Thermographic Image
There were no visible signs of abnormality. Following thermographic imaging of the breast and underarm tissue, referral to a breast specialist and a subsequent biopsy diagnosed inflammatory breast cancer at a very early stage.

“Cancer doesn’t happen overnight - it often develops quietly over years.”

A common question I get is…
what are we actually looking at in a thermography scan?

Thermography looks at function, not structure.

Instead of looking for a lump or mass, we’re observing patterns such as:

• areas of increased heat
• inflammation
• vascular patterns (blood flow changes)
• asymmetry between one side and the other

We also use something called a cold challenge, which involves briefly cooling the hands as part of the functional assessment. This allows us to compare how the body responds against a baseline set of images taken just minutes prior.

In healthy tissue, blood vessels will typically constrict and then return to baseline in a predictable way.

When that response is altered, it can sometimes reflect differences in circulation or vascular activity.

In some cases, we may also observe patterns suggestive of increased vascular activity, where new blood vessel development can occur in response to higher metabolic demand within the tissue. These may appear as more distinct or persistent heat patterns on imaging.

It’s important to understand:
this isn’t a diagnosis.

It’s information about how the tissue may be behaving, which can help guide decisions about monitoring or further investigation.

Many women choose thermography because they want:
• a baseline to compare over time
• a different perspective alongside other screening
• more clarity when something doesn’t feel quite right

I was always low risk… until I wasn’t.

I’ve been around thermography for over 15 years, working in a clinic that offered it and I’ve had my own scans done throughout that time.
I’ve been a certified clinical technician for the past 3 years.

I’ve seen a lot of scans… but this one hit differently because it was mine.

After my hysterectomy in 2019 (due to adenomyosis), both breasts shifted into medium risk.

My report came back: suspicious of hormonal influence.

That stopped me in my tracks.

Here’s the part we don’t talk about enough - hormonal changes, especially after a hysterectomy, can shift how estrogen is stored and expressed in the body… including in breast tissue.

Thermography doesn’t diagnose, but it does give us insight into patterns like inflammation and hormonal influence before things progress.

I started working with bioidentical hormones…
and over time, I was able to significantly lower my breast scores again.

Not by guessing. By having information.

This is why I do what I do.
Not to create fear, but to give women options beyond “wait and see.”

If you’ve had a hysterectomy, are navigating hormones, or just want to understand your body better… this is a conversation worth having 🤍

Adding one more thing to your routine?
Honestly… it’s annoying.

We all say we’ll do it.
Then life happens. You’re tired. You forget. You skip it.

That’s why the trick isn’t doing more…
it’s making it easier.

For me, adding iodine to my breasts has become part of my shower routine:
✔️ Body serum
✔️ Iodine
✔️ Before I even step out of the shower

I let it dry while I’m brushing my teeth, doing my hair, getting ready. Done.

I tried doing it at night…
Nope. Too tired. Didn’t want to stand there waiting for it to dry. It just wasn’t happening.

So I changed the system, not the goal.

And honestly… this shift was inspired by a client of mine who committed to doing this consistently and saw real changes. So thank you for the reminder that simple, consistent habits actually work.

If something feels hard to stick to,
it’s usually not a discipline problem…
it’s a setup problem.

Make it easy. Make it automatic. Make it fit your life.

That’s what actually works.

From a thermography perspective, we often see patterns of inflammation and congestion in breast tissue long before anything structural appears on imaging.

One factor that’s often overlooked?
Iodine status.

Research suggests an association between iodine deficiency and fibrocystic breast changes - something we often see reflected as congestion, tenderness, and inflammatory patterns in thermography.

Iodine plays a role in:
• Supporting healthy breast tissue
• Helping regulate estrogen balance
• Supporting normal cellular function

When levels are low, tissue may become more:
• Sensitive
• Congested
• Fibrocystic

And this isn’t just theoretical. I’ve seen it clinically.

I’ve had a client focus on supporting her iodine status, and over time her thermography findings shifted from a medium-risk pattern to a lower-risk pattern.

This isn’t about quick fixes or one single solution. It’s about understanding what your body is showing you early and supporting it in the right ways.

✨ Thermography allows us to see patterns early
✨ Track changes over time
✨ And take a more proactive approach

If you’ve been told to “watch and wait”…
there may be another way to stay informed.

Have you been told you have dense breasts?

You’re not alone. Dense breast tissue is common and can sometimes make traditional imaging harder to interpret.

Breast thermography offers a non-invasive way to gain additional insight into breast health, especially for those looking for proactive monitoring.

No radiation. No compression.
