To The Core Pilates and Nutrition is a locally owned studio that turns 17 this year!

Located just west of the downtown core we are massive supporters of our local charities as well as huge advocates for Discover Lloydminster and Think Lloyd First programs. Owned and operated by Donna Schellenberg, we began as a small family oriented facility which has grown with her own family over the years. We treat our clients as a part of our family and believe everyone that steps through our

doors deserves the absolute best of what we have to offer. Our purpose has always been to awaken a life of limitless joy in others. Although that may sound strange to some, our clients have overcome massive obstacles that impacted every area of their lives. When you're in pain it's tough to enjoy life. It's difficult to move well, do the activities you love with the people you love the most. Often pain impacts incomes and jobs. Most often it impacts our relationships, our sense of self worth and our confidence. Finding joy in moving again gives people back their freedom and a new outlook for the future. We are proud to help people do just that. At To the Core Pilates & Nutrition it is our mission to encourage lifestyle choices that will improve health over the long term and to improve the quality of life of every client. We offer Therapeutic Pilates and specialize in pre and post natal health as well as post rehab care for hip and knee replacements as well as spinal issues such as scoliosis or disc herniations. To the Core also offers personalized Nutrition Coaching. We work with you to develop smart, effective eating choices to meet your fitness and health goals. Together, we will develop and analyze your habits, dietary needs, and track your progress with the support and resources you need. We believe in creating healthy and sustainable habits that last a lifetime and creating realistic goals and expectations for ourselves. No quick fixes or "no pain, no gain" workouts to be found here. We teach our clients to be proactive about their health, listen to their own bodies and to become advocates for their own health and wellness.

Pilates is a system.

It’s not just working on the reformer (which is so much of what social media shows).

Pilates is a whole repertoire of exercises involving matwork, reformer, tower, chair, barrels and small props.

Every piece and movement has a point and purpose. And if one exercise doesn’t work best for your body we have a ton of options to get your spine moving in similar ways across all the pieces of equipment. An instructor that can pick the best exercises for your body and goals is working the system to your benefit.

While the reformer might be having its moment in the sun and gaining in popularity, it’s important to remember that a well rounded practice involves work across all the equipment. In fact, matwork is often the hardest thing you will do in Pilates and the equipment is there to make you stronger on the mat!

Slow doesn’t mean easy.

Sometimes it can feel… to simple.
Like we need to be doing more.

More reps.
More weight.
More intensity.
Moving faster.

But when you start to slow down and focus, when you remove momentum from the movement and focus on control… that’s when your deep core has to work.

Thats why moving just two inches or doing a couple small little pulses in a Pilates class feels like 🔥🔥

It’s the difference between you controlling the movement to build your strength and alignment, and the movement controlling you.

It’s not about doing more, faster.
It’s about moving better.

We don’t know when it started, but having a toned or flat middle doesn’t = strength or show a person to be more healthy.

We got sold the myths that:
A flat stomach equals health.
A flat stomach equals discipline.
A flat stomach means you are doing things “right.”

Let’s just stop and question that for a second.

We know you can:
Move and walk daily.
Do Pilates.
Have a strong and capable core.
Take great care of your health....and still have a stomach that isn’t flat.

This is especially true in midlife. Our hormones shift, stress is higher, and sleep isn’t always perfect.

Sometimes your body just quite sensibly goes: “Yeah, we’re not chasing that anymore.”

Pilates was never meant to shrink you. It was designed to:
Support your body.
Strengthen your movement.
Keep you capable for life so you can focus on building memories with your family instead of sitting in doctor offices.

We aren’t here to make you obsess over your middle while ignoring everything else your body can do. We care much more about you feeling comfortable and confident in your movement than having six pack abs.

So, eat the goodies.
Do your Pilates.
Build your strength.

You are allowed to have all three.

It is so wonderful to hear this from our. We believe everyone deserves to feel heard and supported when they are working on their health.

In the video, you can see our team practicing rolling like a ball. While it looks like a fun, moving exercise, it is actually about what stays still. It requires focus and control, which is exactly how we approach our sessions with you. We want to make sure you have a professional and educational experience every time you visit the studio.

New Foundations class starting in May!

Our 4 week Pilates Foundations class is a great way to help our new clients learn and get started with their Pilates journey. 😊 We will start with mat, learning the basic principles and how they heal your pelvic floor, create ease of movement and begin your healing journey.

This Foundations course will start May 4th and carry through to May 29th. With two time slots available, Monday/Wednesday @ 1:00pm and Tuesday/Thursday 7:30pm.

If you or anyone you know are dealing with pelvic floor issues or chronic pain share this with them. We are available online, phone or you can click the link in the comments to get registered online.

This is why we specialize in Pilates Instruction that focuses on maintaining fitness and rehabilitation. Our members aren’t as concerned with 6 pack abs, as much as simply feeling comfortable and confident in their clothes. Our fitness community is a supportive one.
