Shoulder tendinitis is inflammation of the tendon usually from repetitive motion or overuse. As we age this becomes more problematic as the tendon becomes less flexible and susceptible to injury. Risks of tendonitis include repetitive motion of the shoulder, overhead movements, underlying arthritis, poor posture, underlying joint stiffness, and muscle weakness. Tendonitis can affect any of the tendons of the shoulder. Most often the rotator cuff tendons are affected.

Our physiotherapists at Meridian Spine & Joint, are experts in assessing the shoulder complex. We will determine if you are suffering from tendonitis and which tendons are affected. Following your assessment, we will guide you through a specific rehabilitation program to assist you on the road to recovery. Call us at (519) 471-7900 and we will book you in today!

Scoliosis is an abnormal lateral curve of the spine. The mid and lower back are the most common areas affected. Often scoliosis is diagnosed in childhood or early adolescence but may develop and worsen with aging.

Signs of scoliosis may include:
-Tops of the shoulder are uneven
-One shoulder blade is more prominent than the other
-One hip sits higher than the other
-When bending forward, one side of the rib cage is higher than the other
-The head is not centred over the pelvis
-The entire body leans to one side
-Waist level is uneven

Scoliosis is either idiopathic (developed with time and no known cause), congenital (caused from birth) and neuromuscular (secondary to neurologic or muscular disease).

At Meridian Spine & Joint, our physiotherapists will provide scoliosis-specific exercises that are often beneficial to stabilize, stop or slow progression and correct non-structural changes. We believe that exercises and specialized physiotherapy techniques help improve posture, and mobility and enhance quality of life.
