Breastmilk contains everything your baby needs to support their immune system. From antibodies that protect against illness to stem cells that support organ development.

"Several studies indicate that some factors in human milk may induce an infant’s immune system to mature more quickly than it would were the child fed artificially." Jack Newman, MD, FRCPC

Having the right fl**ge size for your pump is super important! The wrong size can cause ni**le trauma, lower the amount of breastmilk you get, and can lead to clogged ducts.

Your ni**le should be able to move freely in the fl**ge and little to none of your ar**la should be pulled in.

Your ni**les might have a different size or can change size with time. To find the right size:
- Measure the diameter of your ni**le in mm before pumping (not including the ar**la)
- Use a fl**ge size 3-4 mm larger than your ni**le measurement

There is nothing like a warm cup of coffee first thing in the morning, especially if it was a long night.

Most breastfeeding moms can have 300mg of coffee daily. This is around 2-3 cups of coffee. But there are some babies (those under 6 months or preemies) that can be a bit more sensitive to coffee. If you notice your baby is a bit irritable and fussy, they could be reacting to your coffee consumption. You can always try reducing the amount of coffee you drink to see if things get better.

Did you know that up to 80% of birthing people experience a perineal tear during delivery? So what are the different types of tears?

Intact Perineum: The va**na stretched completely and had no tears. You'll still experience discomfort and pain after childbirth.

First Degree Tear: The tear is isolated to the va**nal mucosa and skin. Most of the time, this tear can heal on its own, but your health care provider might had a couple of stitches to control bleeding.

Second Degree Tear: This is the most common type of tear. It tears the va**nal mucosa/skin and the underlying muscles of the pelvic floor. You'll receive stitches to help everything heal.

Third Degree Tear: This tear is less common and needs to be treated by qualified provider. The tear extends into the muscles that surround the a**s.

Fourth Degree Tear: This is a complex tear that passes completely through the a**l sphincter into the re**um. It is very uncommon and will need to be repaired often times in the operating room.

Episiotomy: This is a procedure performed by your provider with informed consent. it is a small incision made through the skin and muscle away from the sphincter. It is repaired by stitches.
