Below is one of our favourite classic recipes that is perfect for decorating, gifting, or enjoying fresh out of the oven. 🍪✨
Sugar Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
• 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• ½ teaspoon baking powder
• 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 1 ½ cups sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
• 3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until combined.
Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the dough holds together.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into shapes.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
Cool completely before icing.
Simple Icing
• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 2–3 tablespoons milk
• ½ teaspoon vanilla
• Food colouring of your choice
Whisk ingredients until smooth. Adjust milk or sugar to reach your desired thickness. Decorate and enjoy! 🎄💚
