Mindful Distraction vs Avoidance | A Healthy Way to Reset Your Nervous System

In this video, Stacie explains how engaging in absorbing activities like music, cooking, puzzles, or a show can give the nervous system time to reset when emotional intensity is high. You’ll learn the difference between mindful distraction and avoidance, and how intentional pauses actually support better coping later.

This skill supports pacing, flexibility, and emotional regulation by allowing stress responses to settle before re-engaging.

This video is part of a broader educational series on coping skills, emotional regulation, and quality of life offered by EPIC Recovery. Each video is designed to stand on its own while also fitting into a larger learning framework for those who want to explore these skills more deeply, at their own pace.
