Midwives and their supporters have until next Monday, November 13, to speak out against the Ministry of Health's plan to continue the outdated practice of enforcing a drug list restricting midwives' prescribing powers. Health Minister Sylvia Jones announced last month government will expand the list of medications midwives are allowed to order on their own authority - ignoring the College of Midwives' recommendation to do away with the drug list all together and allow midwives to prescribe to their full scope of practice as experts in pregnancy and reproductive care.

Midwives are strongly encouraged to provide commentary to government before the feedback window closes next Monday.

Please consider taking at least one action today: Send a letter to Premier Ford and Minister Jones telling them to stop restricting midwives' prescribing powers. The AOM has made it quick and easy to send a message to government in under two minutes.

Want to do more?
• Share the letter writing campaign with clients and supporters, and on your social media channels.

• Respond directly to government's call for feedback. The AOM has drafted template responses (PDF, 293 KB) for midwives, clients and supporters.

• Tweet at Premier Ford and Minister Jones to amplify the message.
