❔Do you know what a Pedorthist is❔🤔

📍Here at Footletic Orthotic Lab, we have two Canadian Certified Pedorthists and Pedorthic Technicians who are hands-on in all stages of the manufacturing process.

🦶 A C. Ped.(C) plays an important role in the foot care model in Canada, continue reading to learn more!

➡️ C. Ped (C)s are health care professionals that educate, treat and manufacture devices for many foot and ankle conditions and ailments.

➡️ Primarily situated in foot care clinics, we can perform bio-mechanical assessments and evaluate the way you walk. We educate clients on how the lower limbs function, the current foot function and advise on how to assist clients in the treatment of various conditions and diseases.

➡️ Treatment can be advice on proper footwear, suggesting a treatment plan, including custom foot orthotics, to treat underlying bio-mechanical insufficiencies when needed and incorporate braces to assist in the treatment of foot and ankle conditions.

➡️ We can also be found in the manufacturing process where we communicate and support health care professionals to manufacture prescription foot orthotics in mass production. They utilize their knowledge to create the devices healthcare professionals require for their patients.

➡️ In a typical Orthotic Lab, foot castings are verified, digitally scanned via a 3d optical scanner and then digitally designed. C.Ped (C)s are involved in all aspects on the design process and ensure the devices are made to clinical standards of the health care professional.

➡️ In both the Clinical and Lab environments, C.Ped (C)s are a trusted health care professionals inside the foot care model.

⁉️ Do you you have pain in the morning when you get out of bed?

⁉️ Pain when you step down on your feet?

✅ If you answered yes to these questions, you could potentially have a very common foot problem that many people experience:

✨ Plantar Fasciitis ✨

Your first step (pun intended) is to go see a or and see if orthotics are the right option for you!

Plantar Fasciitis often starts as small injury in the plantar fascial band located on the bottom of your foot. It attaches to your heel bone (calcaneus) and spans underneath your entire foot.

When you experience this pain often in the heel area, the pain can linger. Your foot is complex and depends on many ligaments, muscles and tendons to do their job to keep your moving. When a case of plantar fasciatis is active, every step that you take can be painful.

One of the reasons this happens is the tendon that is injured cannot rest. Further, often we cannot be off our feet to rest and recoup with a busy lifestyle, and is often the case this pain starts as a small biting pain, and can develop into an injury.

Also, it is important to note that there may other factors that are causing this injury. It can be related to many conditions, often tight calf muscles, sudden rise in activities on our feet and poor footwear can alll be contributing factors.

Good news! This condition is treatable and you can get back to your regular activites pain free.

▫️Toe Point and Curl Exercise▫️

This is a great way to warm up before exercise, or help get your blood flowing first thing in the morning. 🌤🥱 .

1️⃣ While sitting in a chair, put your foot flat on the ground and start to raise your heel off the ground until you toes are extended.

2️⃣Next, roll over the top of your foot and curl all of your toes in, rounding the top of your foot, and hold for 3 seconds.

3️⃣Then slowly extend your toes again, return your heel to the ground, and then extend all of your toes out, and hold for 3 seconds.

🔁Repeat this ten times per foot and do 3 sets per foot, or whatever feels comfortable for you!

👍🏼By doing this simple routine as a warm up, your feet will be ready to support you!
