We’re excited to announce that we’ve welcomed Dr. Leanne Peters, Sports Medicine Specialist to the EPIC Sports Medicine team!
Dr. Peters brings over 15 years of experience providing care at the community, varsity, provincial, national, and international levels. Born and raised in Fergus, Ontario, she developed a lifelong love of sport through her years as a competitive athlete in softball, basketball, volleyball, and swimming.
After completing all of her post-graduate education at Western University—including a BSc Honours in Genetics, an MD, a Family Medicine Residency, a Fellowship in Sport Medicine at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic, and a Diploma in Sport Medicine (CASEM)—she began a career at Fowler Kennedy in 2009, while also starting a Family Medicine and Sport Medicine practice in Stratford. There, she worked extensively with Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Programs, serving as Team Physician at multiple World Championships and the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
In addition to her clinical work, she serves as a part-time consultant for the Ontario Workers Network at LHSC, offering specialized consultations for musculoskeletal and brain injuries in the workplace. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Western University, where she contributes to resident education and training, and she leads the STAR Family Health Organization as its Lead Physician.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Peters can most often be found on the sidelines cheering on her son and daughter’s teams, continuing to live out her passion for sport both personally and professionally.
Appointments with Dr. Peters are now available for consultation via referral from your primary care provider.
