Breastfeeding is a dynamic relationship between a parent and baby. When a baby latches to the breast there is so much more happening then food passing from one place to another.
It is an intricate dance of hormone communication, neurological pathway development (learning!), microbiome development, and immune system training.
Yes, breast milk is exactly what your baby needs to gain weight, but it's not just the vitamins, minerals, proteins and fats; it is also the living cells, enzymes, growth factors, hormones and immune cells.
For some, how we choose to feed our babies is a deeply ingrained instinctual act that feels right for us. No one should tell you how or when to feed your baby.
