Today seemed like a good day to share this. Holidays can be hard, but connection, belonging and chosen family make a difference.

We chose this song because it's an anthem around My Sisters' Place. Thank YOU for helping us to win a very generous $20,000 from Ironstone Building Company for overnight resting spaces.

Huge shoutout to Darlene, Director of All Our Sisters Chorus, Wendy, (program coordinator for All Our Sisters) and the women in the chorus who truly led the way on this; Jacob Zaifman for his filmwork and Aron Zaifman for editing.

London Coffee House:

Sometimes just the right people walk into your life. What started off with “Tuna Tuesdays” -a small group of very kind individuals serving tuna sandwiches in the community on Tuesdays, has morphed into a group of regular volunteers we can’t imagine our program without.

They are kind, practical, hard working and they exude warmth. They are a dream team of volunteers and we are so grateful they choose to spend time with us at the London Coffee House.

London Coffee House:

All Our Sisters Chorus is in the house! We are feeling festive and the place is a rockin’ (in a Christnassy sort of way!)

London Coffee House:

Hours over the coming days remain the same. The Coffee House is open 365 days a year.

Our drop in program service hours are 9:30-1:30 daily.

Donations are welcome every day from 9:30-1:30 at 371 Hamilton Road (at Redan) through the back gate.

We welcome warm items (hand and foot warmers, warm gloves, hats and scarves, warm winter coats, warm, dry boots) for men and also for women.

We are always in need of men’s belts, grab and go snack items, coffee (so much coffee!!!), sugar and creamer.

We would never say no to muffins, loaves, oatmeal packs, yogurt etc. we go through 200+ cups of coffee each day —so whatever pairs well with coffee—we will appreciate it!

Donation Drop off times:

Tuesday & Wednesday 10-1, 1:30-4, 4:30-7
Wednesday- Sunday 10:30-1:00

We welcome donations at the side door off the parking lot (accessed from William Street).

We are in need of heat and serve (microwave meals) and grab and go snacks (yogurt, apple sauce, juice boxes, soft cereal bars. Granola bars for our overnight resting spaces.

Shout out to our overnight resting spaces staff. This program is so important for women in our community, providing safety during overnight hours.

My Sisters’ Place:

Sincere thanks to Danielle from the London Dance Shoppe for the delivery of shoe box gifts today. Each year they host a Bubbles and Boxes event, bringing the community together to assemble and donate shoe box gifts.

Thanks also to Securiguard for both their corporate and employee donations. Many items from our wish list that will help us through the coming months.

Thanks to Ian from Willie’s for a lovely food donation. Sandwiches and sweets and buckets of chicken stock that will be destined for soup. We were Ian’s last stop before he breaks for holidays and opens in a few weeks in One London Place!

Cora from Little Red Roaster Coffee is a long-time supporter of My Sisters’ Place. She has a heart of gold and is always doing something to help others. She arrived this season like she has so many other holiday seasons with loads of toiletries and warm items that will be a wonderful help to so many women over the next number of months.

We are so grateful for the support we receive.

My Sisters’ Place:

It was another busy day at the house! Sincere thank to everyone who stopped by today, and everyone who thought of us.

We are without kitchen staff right now. Our Nutrition Coordinator is away for a few months and until we have someone in place we are being creative —and we are grateful for sponsored and donated meals!

Sue, together with OPSEU Local 110, and the London District Labour Council delivered a hot dog lunch complete with condiments over the weekend. Today an anonymous donor provided us with a pizza lunch and later in the day we received a very generous donation of produce and other items from St. John the Evangelist as they wound down their kitchen for the holidays.

TL & Dave from Mamasim have been incredibly generous with both My Sisters’ Place and the London Coffee House. Thank you for the turkey legs!

Every contribution you make is appreciated, whether it’s lunch or hygiene products. We sincerely thank you.

London Coffee House:

This is Chris who stopped by the London Coffee House this morning with a generous donation of pies, coffee, cream and sugar.

Doesn’t that sound perfect for a cold and snowy day? A slice of pie with a hot cup of coffee.

Chris’ family decided to forgo Christmas gifts to one another and instead brighten the days of others who will so appreciate that slice of pie with a great cup of coffee.

Dear Bob and Cathy, you absolutely made our day! What a beautiful gift for all of us to enjoy.

The holidays are a stressful time of year for everyone, for lots of different reasons. It is particularly hard on Londoners who are just trying to survive cold temperatures, poverty and isolation.

We are grateful for acts of generosity and kindness that remind us we haven’t been forgotten by our community.

We have enjoyed lovely donated food, gifts of emergency clothing and hygiene products, and monetary donations that help ensure our doors are open and our program is staffed with skilled, compassionate team members who are ready to listen and support.

We are incredibly grateful. This gift of flowers reminds us we are worthy of beauty and kindness in our lives. ❤️
