There are books you read.
And then there are books that read you back.
Over the next couple of months, The Collective Thoughts Book Club is diving into Thriving Postpartum: Embracing the Indigenous Wisdom of La Cuarentena by Pānquetzani and this one is not a skim and shelf situation. This is a slow sip. A margin-filled. Highlighter in hand. Circle up and unpack it kind of read.
This book invites us to rethink postpartum not as something to “bounce back” from, but as a sacred threshold. A season of protection. Nourishment. Community. Ceremony. It brings forward traditional Indigenous wisdom around La Cuarentena and asks us, as doulas, birth workers, parents, and advocates:
What would it look like if we truly honoured postpartum as a rite of passage?
What if thriving was the expectation, not survival?
And here is the part we are most excited about…
✨ On April 26th from 5 to 7 PM EST on Zoom, we will be joined LIVE by the author herself, Pānquetzani, alongside Amy Silva, Founder of The Collaborative Doula Collective, for an open and powerful conversation about the book.
We will:
• Reflect on key teachings from the text
• Explore how this wisdom can shape modern postpartum care
• Ask questions directly to the author
• Sit in dialogue about culture, ceremony, rest, and reclamation
And so much more!
This gathering is open to everyone. Doulas. Midwives. Birth workers. Parents. Students. Community members. If postpartum matters to you, you belong in this room.
Come as you are.
Bring your questions.
Bring your curiosity.
Bring your reverence for the fourth trimester.
Let’s move beyond surviving postpartum.
Let’s talk about thriving.
