✨Boundaries are not barriers — they’re the foundation of sustainable doula care.✨

As doulas, we hold space for others through their most transformative moments… but how often do we hold space for ourselves?

Boundaries aren’t about building walls — they’re about creating balance, protecting your energy, and ensuring your care remains heart-led and sustainable.

✨ New on the Blog: Why Every Doula Needs Boundaries (and How to Set Them with Heart) — a powerful read on redefining boundaries as an act of love and sustainability.

✨Doulas of Ontario — This Is Your Invitation.✨

The Collaborative Doula Collective is growing, and we’re calling in heart-led doulas from across Ontario who are ready to be part of something bigger.

Whether your calling is fertility, birth, postpartum, loss, or end-of-life support, there’s a space for you here. Together, we’re redefining what it means to be a doula — creating a culture rooted in collaboration, compassion, and community care.

✨We’re especially looking to connect with doulas in:
📍 Windsor – families are currently seeking support
📍 Ottawa
📍 Cambridge / Kitchener-Waterloo
📍 Barrie / Muskoka Region

The Collaborative Doula Collective is more than a network — it’s a movement. We’re changing the way doulas support families and each other by building a community where everyone thrives. No competition, no isolation — just shared growth, learning, and belonging.

As a member, you’ll receive:
✨Client referrals
✨Access to continuing education, mentorship, and collaborative learning opportunities
✨Business and branding support to help you grow your practice
✨Marketing and social media features to highlight your work and reach new families
✨Invitations to collective dinners, admin days, workshops, retreats, and special events
✨A brave space to learn, share, and feel supported — personally and professionally

We believe in doing this work differently. In slowing down, listening deeply, and creating a ripple effect of care that extends beyond one birth, one family, one moment.

If you’re ready to be part of a Collective that believes in community over competition and in the heart-led power of doula care — we’d love to welcome you.

Let’s reimagine what’s possible, together.

You were here. You mattered. You are forever loved.

10/15/2025

Tonight, candles flicker in windows, on mantels, across oceans — one by one, we light the world in memory.

Each flame carries a name.
Each glow, a story.
Each light, a love that never left.

This is the Wave of Light — a moment where grief meets love, and silence is filled with remembrance.

You are not alone tonight.
We see you.
We feel it too.

✨Honouring the Tiny Lives That Changed Everything✨

There are moments in this work that will stay with us forever — the ones where joy and grief meet in the same breath. As doulas walking alongside families through both birth and death, we know that love does not always arrive with a cry, and parenthood is not always measured in first steps or birthdays. Sometimes it’s measured in heartbeats heard once, in names whispered into the dark, in dreams carried close but never cradled in arms.

Pregnancy and infant loss are not small losses. They are love stories with chapters left unwritten. And in those tender, unbearable spaces — where silence is heavy and words fall short — our role is not to fix, but to hold. To hold space for the grief, the rage, the emptiness. To honour the sacredness of a life, no matter how brief. To remind families that their baby existed, that their love is real, and that their mourning is holy.

This is the heart of full-spectrum doula care.
It is bearing witness to both the first breath and the last.

It is lighting candles where joy once bloomed.

It is walking with families through the darkest nights, carrying hope gently, without rushing healing.

To support loss is to sit in the storm and whisper, “You are not alone.” To honour it is to speak their baby’s name, to remember, to celebrate, and to grieve.

Whether a life is measured in minutes, months, or years — it matters. And as doulas, we are called to stand as guardians of that truth, keepers of memory, and companions through the ache of goodbye.

✨ Water Birth Wonders ✨

Pain Relief • Peace • Power in Labour 🌊

For centuries, water has been a symbol of peace, transformation, and surrender in birth. Today, research shows that hydrotherapy — labouring or birthing in water — offers real benefits for those with low-risk pregnancies.

💧 Why Choose Water Birth?

🌊 Pain Relief: Many people find less need for epidurals or IV meds.

🌊 Movement & Flow: Buoyancy makes position changes easier, helping labour progress.

🌊 Comfort & Calm: Warm water, privacy, and freedom of movement support relaxation.

🌊 Gentle Outcomes: Studies suggest fewer interventions and, often, less perineal trauma.

🌊 Safe for Low-Risk Births: When safety protocols are followed, outcomes are positive for both parent and baby.
At The Collaborative Doula Collective, we believe your birth space should feel as powerful and peaceful as you are. That’s why we now offer birth pool rentals — so you can plan a serene, supported water birth. 🌸

✨ Our doulas are here to:

💫 Help set the mood — soft lighting, calming music, uncluttered space

💫 Set up, fill, and maintain your pool at the perfect temperature

💫 Provide hands-on comfort — hip squeezes, massage, counter pressure

💫 Ensure you feel supported, respected, and cared for every step of the way
Hydrotherapy isn’t just a luxury — for many, it’s a game changer. If you’re curious about planning a water birth, let’s chat about whether it’s the right option for you.

With love & care,
The Collaborative Doula Collective 💙

Doula Training gave me knowledge.

Mentorship, shadowing, and peer support gave me confidence.

When I first stepped into doula work, I believed training alone would be enough. Instead, I walked away with plenty of information—but not the confidence or lived experience I needed to truly support families in real spaces.

The truth? The real learning happened later—through:
✨Mentorship → someone who knows your name, your story, and invests in your growth.
✨Peer Support → walking alongside others, reminding one another we’re not alone.
✨Shadowing → learning by observing real-life doula work in action.

Training opened the door. But relationships are what gave me the courage to walk through it.

This is also where the hard conversation comes in: mentorship and shadowing aren’t entitlements. They take energy, consent, and care—and they deserve to be valued just as much as formal training.

If we want our profession to thrive, we need a culture that:
✨ Normalizes paying for mentorship.
✨ Values reciprocity in peer support.
✨ Recognizes shadowing as a privilege, not a guarantee.

Because it’s not the certificate on the wall that makes you a doula—it’s the wisdom, resilience, and confidence you gain in community.

💬Have you had a mentor, peer, or shadowing experience that shaped your journey? How did it change the way you practice? Let’s talk about it ⬇️

✨Why Debrief Circles Matter for Doulas✨

As doulas, we hold space through some of life’s most tender, transformative, and sacred moments — from fertility journeys and abortion care, to birth and postpartum, to walking with families through grief, loss, and end of life.

This work is powerful, but it can also be heavy. None of us should have to carry that weight alone.

That’s why, inside The Collaborative Doula Collective, we host monthly Debrief Circles — a safe, brave, and nourishing space where doulas of all modalities come together. 💛

Here, we:
✨Share our stories and experiences openly
✨Receive encouragement + heartfelt support
✨Learn from each other’s wisdom across every path of doula care
✨Release what we carry, so we can keep showing up with presence and compassion

No topic, no modality, no experience is unwelcome. Every part of your doula journey belongs here.

Our Debrief Circles are one of the many ways we make sure our members feel truly seen, heard, and understood — by a community of doulas who get it.

✨ This is what community care looks like.
✨ This is how we rise together.

If you’re a doula seeking connection, mentorship, and a community that honors the full spectrum of doula work — we’d love to welcome you.

🌅 Come to the lake.
Sit by the fire.
Speak of death…
and feel more alive than ever. 🌿💀

✨ 9th Vermont Death & Dying Retreat ✨
📅 Sept 1–4, 2025 (Optional arrival night Aug 31)
📍 Lakeside • Champlain Islands, Vermont

Step away from the noise of daily life and sink into the heart of what matters most.

This year’s retreat is a lakeside immersion in nature, community, and the profound explorations of death & dying. Over 3 transformative days and 4 nights, we’ll gather in an open-air shelter for 10+ hours of group teachings & study, balanced with time to:
🌲 Wander the forest trails
🚲 Bike along endless paths
🌊 Swim or float in the lake
🍷 Sip at a local vineyard
🍎 Explore apple orchards & country stores
🌅 Chase Vermont’s magical sunsets

We’ll visit a creepy campground, share fireside stories, and nourish ourselves with both delicious food and authentic connection.

This year’s theme weaves together shadow, heart, energy, mind, body, spirit, and—always—death. Each session will offer tools for doulas, caregivers, and all who walk alongside the dying, while also offering deep personal rejuvenation.

🏕 We camp. We connect. We come alive.
You’ll return home rested, inspired, and thoroughly loved.
