KUWAIT CITY: Update from Dr. Lovegrove
“Last week I returned home from four very full days in Kuwait City, where I had the privilege of participating in a speaker tour across several institutions. The schedule was ambitious - lectures, case-based discussions, clinic visits, and many thoughtful conversations about the realities of managing complex inflammatory skin disease. It was energizing and intellectually stimulating, and at times felt like an endurance challenge (Amazing Race: Dermatology Edition).
A highlight was visiting local dermatology clinics and seeing the breadth of their practice delivered with truly patient-centered, culturally appropriate care - including resources addressing medication use during religious fasting and tools such as DLQI and PEST translated into Arabic.
Despite being halfway across the world, the challenges felt remarkably familiar. We discussed primary and secondary treatment failures despite access to advanced therapies, and severe inflammatory dermatoses complicated by comorbidities that don’t fit neatly into on-label or monotherapy solutions. Different health systems, same clinical dilemmas.
