Now that you know what all the parts of a hearing aid are after our last post, here are some cleaning tips to help keep them functioning at their best.

Just like any piece of technology hearing aids function best when cared for properly. Here are a few quick and easy ways to maintain your hearing aids function.

1. Clean aids by wiping and brushing in a downward motion every day.
2. Check wax filter/guard for wax, change if necessary. Once a month is typical.
3. Clean and change disposable domes approximately every 6 months.
4. Wipe custom earpieces daily and clean/unplug vent with vent cleaning brush as needed.

It is also important to remember to book regular hearing aid clean and checks with one of our experts to keep your hearing aids in tip top shape!

Today is World Diabetes Day. This year the theme is diabetes and well-being, with access to quality care everyone with diabetes has a chance to live well. Access to hearing care is included in this health care for overall well being.

Did you know hearing loss is twice as common in diabetics compared to their peers without diabetes. Overtime, high and low blood sugar can cause nerve damage to the inner ear leading to this increased rate of hearing loss in diabetics. It is important for everyone, especially diabetics, to get their hearing checked regularly just as you do for your eyes and teeth!
