Turmeric is really popular these days. A little hint: always add a dash of black pepper - it makes turmeric even more effective!

Flu season has hit! Having these herbs in your medicinal arsenal, may help lessen some of its impact.:
Elderberry: try making a shrub - great year-round tonic
(ask me for the recipe)
Ginger - anti-inflammatory - you have to try my GINGER BEER (non-alcoholic, caffeine and yeast free) - absolutely delicious
Thyme - thyme tea is an effective expectorant
Garlic - a year-round immune system strengthener, if you can't stomach it raw a high quality supplement is effective

Does YERBA MATÉ (Ilex paraguariensis) contain caffeine and can it help with weight loss?
Maté has been used for centuries by Native Americans in Paraquay & Brazil, and is considered a national drink in many South American countries. In Europe it is known as “the green gold of the Indios.”
Traditionally used for energy, strength, concentration, alertness, and nourishment, Maté is now recognized as being useful for memory enhancement, headache, gout, heart regulation, toning the nervous system, allergies and inflammatory bowel conditions. It has been found that it increased the proportion of fat burned as energy in healthy Maté drinkers.
Maté does contain caffeine (a bit more than black tea, a bit less than coffee) but is regarded as a good substitute because it has all the stimulant effects of caffeine without the side effects.
(Maté should note be consumed by pregnant women, those allergic to caffeine, suffering from hypertension or taking MAO inhibitor drugs.)

I'm back in Canada and beginning to blend a few new teas for Autumn and Winter. They'll be posted as soon as the recipes are just right. And, I'm working on a new line of tisanes made with wild-crafted herbs, I expect to launch it in the spring/summer of 2012.

Our fall teas and price list are now up on our website. We've focused on our most popular teas and added a few to the mix, such as Pregnancy Tea, Crazy Legs, and Wonder Woman. Enjoy!

Farmers' Markets are wonderful places to meet artisans and get fresh locally grown produce. I've been making sun tea with my Hibiscus Elderflower Zinger, and it's a winner. One of my newest additions, "Wonder Woman," will be perfect for a moon tea on the 15th.
