The day before Valentine’s, and Heritage Home is celebrating with live music, games, and a whole lot of heart. 🎶❤️

This afternoon, Rodney Pettigrew is back for another performance, and residents have spent the week making valentines, baking, and enjoying Valentine’s games and crafts.

Love shows up in a lot of ways here. Today, it sounds like music.

Today’s Bridges Program brought Grade 8 students to Heritage Home for an afternoon of connection. These regular visits are one of the highlights of life here — for residents and students alike.

There’s something powerful about young people and seniors sharing the same space. Stories get told. Perspectives shift. And everyone leaves a little richer for it.

The Community Quilters are part of our regular recreation programming at Heritage Home — and the results speak for themselves. Residents and quilters have already completed two beautiful quilts together, with a third on the way.

Each finished quilt is made available for any resident to use. It’s creativity, connection, and comfort all wrapped into one.

And speaking of quilts — our 2026 Annual Quilt Raffle is on! Another stunning quilt donated by the Community Quilters is up for grabs. Tickets are 3 for $5, available at the Business Office or out in the community. Draw date: May 10, 2026. Proceeds support capital equipment and infrastructure at the Home. 🎟️

There’s nothing quite like a room full of tiny valentines.

This morning, Pre-Kindergarten students visited Heritage Home to share valentines with our residents. The smiles — on both sides — say everything about why these connections matter.

When generations come together, everyone benefits. That’s what community care looks like in Lumsden.

Our Wednesday Reading Group gives residents space to enjoy a good story together, sometimes read aloud, sometimes just shared in comfortable silence. It's one of the many ways Heritage Home supports not just physical health, but mental and emotional wellbeing.

💙 Shaping the caregivers of tomorrow

Every year from January to March, LDHH proudly welcomes first-year nursing students for their very first clinical practicum. This is where learning begins, with real people, real care, and meaningful connection.

Our small, welcoming home gives students a supportive environment to grow their skills while building genuine relationships with our residents. As the weeks go on, they do not just learn about healthcare. They become part of our community.

New faces, new stories, extra helping hands, and more time spent together all contribute to a better quality of life in our Home. 😊

We are proud to play a role in developing the next generation of compassionate caregivers.

From celebrating Green/Grinch Day and cozy Pajama Day to welcoming the Lumsden Elementary students for Christmas caroling and special gifts, our days have been full of smiles, laughter, and connection.
