Hybrid training diaries - episode 2🤍

I loved making this and feel like I’ve only just scratched the surface in talking about all things heath and fitness, hybrid training included!

To me, hybrid training is blending conditioning with strength, but also adding other movement modalities like yoga and pilates.

This way of training has changed the game for me and I’m feeling my best at 35 🙌

It’s really nothing new, where the idea is to schedule conditioning and strength training into your week to have a healthy and fit body.. but often it’s the simplest things that are the best for us isn’t it?!

I can’t wait to share more, and what better place to do mini lessons than in my classroom at the end of the day, just don’t mind my tired state 🤪

Thanks for watching, let me know what you want to learn more about around health and fitness next 🫶

Little bit of tough love👇

1. Intensity DOES matter

I’ll be the first one to talk about the importance of consistency and getting your workout in whether you feel like it or not, even if it’s just going through the motions, BUT once you have that, you need to up the intensity to see the results you’re after. You get out what you put in.

2. You’re wasting your time if you’re not following a plan

I used to go to the gym, no plan, and putter around the machines and think it was enough, but nothing ever changed. Not following a progressive strength plan is not a good use of your time. You need to be tracking your weights, reps, and sets and progressively overload accordingly (more on this in a future post)

3. You’re not seeing results because you need to tighten things up outside of your workouts

You can have an amazing session in the gym but then eat a meal that lacks nutrients, or you can go for a run and then not get enough sleep that night (currently what I’m working on 🫠) Don’t sabotage your sessions with lifestyle choices that hold you back. And it’s not big fancy stuff, just make sure you’re eating nutritious meals, drinking lots of water, and getting enough sleep.

You got this, I’m rooting for you🫶

Always fun to be on the other side of the personal training experience, especially when I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to weighted chin ups 😅

Thanks for being the best coach and the behind the scenes cheerleader for a lot of us💪🙌

Going to hit that 10 chin up goal in no time!!

Off to a hot start this year putting health and fitness first and feeling great (minus the mild winter blues of course),...

Off to a hot start this year putting health and fitness first and feeling great (minus the mild winter blues of course), now to keep up the momentum 🙌

And if the year didn’t start that way you hoped, spring is around the corner and one of the best times to start new habits and routines, one of my favourite times actually💕

It can be so hard to keep going with a fitness routine when you’re not seeing the results… but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

I remember feeling SO discouraged in so many areas of health and fitness from weight loss to hitting big lifting numbers or doing my first chin-up, and I’ve learned that it really does just take time.

But it DOES happen!! And the time is going to pass anyway so you may as well lay a brick each day rather than no bricks at all.

Delayed gratification is everything in health and fitness 💪

Taking my training seriously is one of the best things I could have ever done for myself.

In the last few years, and especially this past year, I’ve noticed that I’m not only hitting my physical fitness goals, but a lot more is happening under the surface.. self trust, confidence, discipline, and the list goes on..

Because here’s the thing, in order to do something you currently can’t do, you have to stretch yourself and grow into the person who can do it.

And how amazing is that? To have the opportunity to learn, to grow, to become.

I set a goal to do 10 chin ups (I’m almost there!) and while I know it’s going to feel amazing to hit that physical goal, it really won’t be that ground breaking. I’ll be proud of myself, but life will pretty much be the same.

This is the important part, it’s not about the 10 chin ups. It’s about who I have to become to do them.

I have to be someone who shows up when they don’t feel like it, who pushes through discomfort, who is consistent and patient when results don’t happen right away.

And whether your goal is to do 10 chin ups or to get out for a 10 minute walk each day, just know that the benefits run deep and setting and achieving fitness goals will change your life, it’s changed mine 🤍

Motivation has been at an all time LOW lately (very sick of winter over here 🙋‍♀️) but we are moving forward slowly but surely..

This is where it’s so important to just follow the plan and not the mood..

Here’s to not feeling like doing the thing and doing it anyway🙌🤍
