Let’s talk about give and take. I posted a story on my personal page yesterday that included a pink slushie Alani energy drink. I wanted to address it in the story but wasn’t sure how. This afternoon, I’m drinking a mini Diet Coke while I’m working on my continuing education course.

Let’s be real- neither of those drinks are “good for me.” I will credit myself by saying I don’t drink them often (anymore, I had a bad phase 🤪), which leads me to the point of conversation today.

I don’t think you could have paid me to go to the gym yesterday. I laid in bed for an hour yesterday morning doom scrolling on my phone. I knew I needed something to get me there, and the thought of drinking that pink slushie Alani while I worked out is what did it. The benefit of going to the gym outweighed the side effect of drinking one energy drink.

Today, I could feel a bit of a cold coming on and knew I hadn’t been good enough with my vitamins and supplements lately. I took a couple extra ones that I save for when I’m not feeling my best, but taking so many pills tends to upset my stomach. The only thing that helps keep them down is a fizzy drink, cue the Diet Coke. The benefit of taking my supplements outweighed the side effect of drinking a less than ideal beverage.

Let’s bring back nuance in health conversations. A mini Diet Coke won’t kill you if it helps you take your supplements. One energy drink won’t kill you if it gets you to the gym. Consuming too many processed protein products in one day won’t kill you if it helps you hit your macronutrient goal. Going for a 10 minute walk in sandals won’t wreck your body mechanics if it gets you to your step goal.

These things become dangerous when they’re overdone, “the dosage is the poison.” Moderation of all things with a general focus on overall health is just fine. Do your best. 😉

You don’t need to cycle sync, optimize, or excessively consume expensive supplements. Those are 1% factors.

You need to focus on 99% factors.

Introducing…. Hot Girl Talk 🎙️

You’ve heard of a hot girl walk? This is that, but better.

I had a vision a couple years ago of doing live information sessions where I could share knowledge with you via Facebook live. I never got this idea off the ground for various reasons, but I’m revamping it now into something more fun and lighthearted.

As often as I feel beneficial and authentic, I’ll record a short portion of my walk and share some helpful information with you. I’m envisioning many topics including but not limited to exercise, nutrition, lifestyle tips, biology, and mental health. I often feel like there is more I can offer my practice with the amount of education I’ve been fortunate enough to recieve, and this is my first step in that.

I’m excited to share my brain with you for a few minutes every week. 🫶🏼 See you on our next hot girl talk! 💜

Hey, just checking in! 👋🏻

Thanks for all the texts and messages wondering how things are going, it’s so thoughtful. ☺️

If we talked earlier in September, you’ll know that harvest got started fairly late this year. I was able to get an extra few days of appointments in to check some people off the wait list in early September. ✅ I still have a current wait list for pop in days and will continue to let you know when I’m coming in!

Thank you for your patience. 💜

What happens in Vagus… actually follows you around for the rest of your life if you spend enough time there. What a great weekend of learning that resonated deeply within. Thank you to all involved 💜

Here’s something new for your feed… a week of workouts! 💪🏼

Sunday- It’s scheduled as a rest day from my trainer, but I will often do a light workout since I sometimes miss strength training sessions during the week.

Monday- This is supposed to be a strength training day, but I left home early and got home late and didn’t make time for my workout. Instead I shuffled my week around and did Thursday’s mobility session today. I also went on a short walk.

Tuesday- Another mobility day today, but this time it was actually scheduled.

Wednesday- I missed another strength training session today so I took it as a rest day. I chose to ride my c**t instead of go to the gym, and sometimes that’s the more important thing to have done.

Thursday- Strength training day! Since I already did Thursday’s mobility, I moved Wednesday’s session to today.

Friday- Strength training day! I only had time for half of my workout if I wanted to get to bed on time, so that’s what I did. I pushed hard in 3 exercises because something is better than nothing.

Saturday- I spent another rest day at a barrel race to wrap up a great week.

This week was so far from perfect, but I am still chipping away at progress. Small steps forward are better than standing still. This is maybe what a realistic week looks like for someone with a career and other priorities outside of fitness. It doesn’t have to be your whole life, but it should be part of your life.

The rumours are true… Schedulicity is no more! All booking confirmations and reminders will now be sent via Vagaro.

Just a reminder that I am no longer accepting online booking, all appointments must be booked directly through me. 😇 The app is simply used in my back office and for confirmations/reminders.

“A new stimulus is going to accelerate adaption.”

This is a great episode to check out if you’re interested in VO2 Max and general fitness.

Some key takeaways:

➡️ The best form of exercise is the one you will consistently do.
➡️ In an ideal world, lift weights 2-3x weekly. This matters for your long term health, strength and mobility.
➡️ 150 minutes of aerobic exercise per week is sufficient. One high intensity session per week is ideal.

Shoulder mobility is important for every day life, not just loading and unloading panels. 😉 If you don’t have the strength to control your body in the full range of motion of a joint you will be significantly more likely to injure yourself. I’m also just out here trying to keep up to my Mom, who is handy as heck. Stay strong, stay safe. 💪🏼
