We are very happy to announce the arrival of our new full time Veterinarian, Dr. Eliza McCarthy. Here is a little bit abour her....

Dr. McCarthy received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California at Davis. Prior to this, she spent ten years in the field of education, earning her Master's and Doctorate of Education while serving as an administrator at a high school in Los Angeles, California.

After graduating from veterinary school, she served as an active-duty veterinarian for the U.S. Army for four years, where she cared for military working dogs, focusing on behavioural medicine. Once she left active service in 2019, she began to serve in the Army Reserve and deployed to Afghanistan in 2020. Upon her return, she became a full-time locum veterinarian, working in emergency and general practices across the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

She and her husband, Mike, fell in love with the Sunshine Coast and decided to make the move to Canada when he retired as a pilot from the Air Force. When not at work, she loves hiking, taking in a view of the water and baking new treats to share with her dog Leelu.

Pop into the Hospital any time to say HI to Dr. McCarthy and welcome her to her newly adopted community!
