The Chinook Foundation is accepting applications for a Chief Administrative Officer to work under the direction of the Board to oversee all seniors housing operations of Chinook Foundation including lodges and seniors’ self-contained housing in Cardston County.

The successful candidate will be an effective leader who embraces the values and culture of Chinook Foundation. He or she will also have training and/or proven experience in the following key areas:

• Post-secondary degree and/or 5 years’ experience in management or administration.
• Previous experience providing quality housing to seniors would be an asset
• Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to empower, motivate, and inspire, including inspiring change when needed.
• Exceptional English language writing skills including the ability to write policy.
• Financial planning, strategic planning, and budgeting skills.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and complete accountabilities on time.
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage records properly.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively resolve conflict in a diplomatic, respectful, confidential, and professional manner.
• Excellent oral communication skills to effectively communicate with staff, residents, board, stakeholders, local and provincial government, and the public.
• Strong computer skills and facility with a variety of technologies.

Duties will include
• Board liaison/governance.
• Accounting, budgeting and payroll/human resources duties.
• Support for and supervision of site managers.
• Overseeing maintenance, upgrading of buildings, and potential capital projects.
• Reporting and accountability to the Alberta Government and to licensing and accrediting bodies.
• Policy development and implementation.
• Media and advertising.

Starting Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 depending on experience and education

Job Title
Housekeeper Night Shift

Position Summary
The night housekeeper has daily, weekly, monthly and annual cleaning duties throughout the facility. At the Diamond Willow Lodge the night housekeeper is the only staff working and is responsible for managing resident concerns, respond to emergency situations and to maintain the security of the building. At the Chinook Lodge, the night housekeeper assists the night health care aide with emergency situations as needed.

Hours of Work / Wage
1. 7 days / week, Holidays, Weekends
2. 11:00pm – 6:30am
3. 6 – 10 shifts / month
4. Starting Wage: $20.06 / hr. + shift differential

Qualifications
1. Proven housekeeping skills.
2. Good health, physically fit, ability to walk and lift up to 30 lbs., with no history of back problems. A medical may be required.
3. Hardworking and focused, able to stay on task, cleaning for entire shifts.
4. High standards of personal integrity to be trusted to complete required tasks when working alone and unobserved, and to be trusted to maintain confidentiality.
5. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Working Conditions
1. Night housekeepers may be assigned to work full-time, part-time, or casual. Night housekeepers work alone.
2. Night housekeepers at the Diamond Willow Lodge are the only staff on during their shift and must be able to handle any emergency that may arise. At the Chinook Lodge, night housekeepers must be able to assist the night health care aide with emergency situations.
3. This position requires physical exertion, performing cleaning duties for entire shifts. Moderate amounts of time are spent lifting (up to 30 lbs.), walking, performing repetitive motions, standing in one place, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and bending.
4. This position requires the flexibility to cope with frequent changes such as daily routines, workload, shifts, resident needs.
5. This position includes moderate risk of exposure to environmental workplace hazards including chemical and biological hazards.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Complete assigned daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning tasks according to defined schedules.
2. Wash, dry, fold and return resident laundry according to the schedule. (Diamond Willow Lodge only).
3. Conduct rounds of the building observing for residents who may be in need as well as safety and security concerns.
4. Always carry a staff phone and respond to resident call buttons and pull cords.
5. Handle any resident emergencies that happen on your shift, including calling 911 when appropriate and completing incident reports.
6. Monitor entry and exits from the building.
7. Clean up messes and spills and perform other emergency cleaning of private and common areas of the lodge as needed.
8. Assist residents as needed throughout shift.
9. Stock and organize supplies as needed, keeping the work environment and storage areas consistently tidy.
10. Ensure all equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly.
11. Ensure laundry is efficiently processed and adequate levels of clean items maintained.
12. Work in a safe and healthy manner by:
a. adhering to infection prevention and control practices and procedures.
b. following safe work procedures.
c. reporting safety concerns and safety incidents.
d. following WHMIS guidelines for the safe handling of cleaning agents and other chemicals.

We are seeking a passionate Cook Team Leader to join our team at Diamond Willow Lodge in Magrath, Alberta. This is a vital role to the operation of the Lodge and requires a leader who effectively coordinates all aspects of the day-to-day food services including supervising the kitchen staff and in ensuring our residents receive nutritious and delicious meals that reflect our commitment to their health and well-being.

Responsibilities:
1. Lead the Diamond Willow Lodge kitchen team with respect and professionalism.
2. Serve on the leadership team for the lodge.
3. Actively work to support the vision, mission, and values of the Chinook Foundation.
4. Work with the site manager to handle the recruitment, training, supervising and performance management of all kitchen staff.
5. Create monthly schedules for all kitchen staff under the direction of the site manager.
6. Work with the site manager and a dietitian to develop, get approval for, monitor, and adjust menus ensuring the Canada Food Guide is followed and resident preferences are accommodated.
7. Provide nutrition that has a home cooked, made from scratch, quality to minimize the perception of institutional living in food services.
8. Ensure kitchen department operates in a safe and healthy manner by:
-Adhering to infection prevention and control practices and procedures.
-Creating and following safe work procedures.
-Serving as a member of the Occupational Health and Safety committee as needed.
-Reporting safety concerns and safety incidents.
-Following WHMIS guidelines for the safe handling of cleaning agents and other chemicals.
9. Maintain confidentiality by adhering to the Protection of Privacy Act or POPA on issues related to residents, employees and Chinook Foundation business.
10. Respond to resident emergencies and follow the Diamond Willow Lodge Emergency Contingency Plans.
11. Willing to work a variety of shifts including early cook shift (6:00am - 2:00pm) and late cook shift (10:00am - 6:00pm); and rotated weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:
1. Red Seal Journeyman Cook or Diploma in Culinary Arts. A combination of equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
2. Extensive institutional cooking experience.
3. Proven supervisory or leadership skills.
4. The ability to create, monitor and evaluate menu plans and recipes.
5. The ability to train other kitchen staff on cooking techniques, use of equipment, kitchen safety, time and money saving practices.
6. Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently.
7. Good health, physically fit, able to walk and lift, with no history of back problems - a medical may be required.
8. Written and computer skills necessary to maintain schedules, charts, checklists, and other paperwork as needed and to order supplies and groceries for the kitchen

Magrath High School Student Employment Opportunity!

Ad will close when we have filled the position.

We are looking to hire a student for our temporary student position at the Diamond Willow Lodge. (This is a temporary position as we will only have this shift during periods of high occupancy at the lodge.)
You will be sharing this shift with three other students. This shift consists of 7 days a week including weekends and holidays on rotation, from 4pm to 7pm; and day shifts on weekends, from 7am-2:30pm.
Must be willing to work weekends on rotation!
Wage is $13/hr. for students under 18 years of age.
Applicant must have excellent communication skills.

The duties include:
- Set the tables for supper
- Help serve supper
- Clearing and washing dishes, sanitizing tables
- Sweeping the dining room floor
- Setting the tables for breakfast
- And other daily kitchen cleaning duties.
