One of the most common observations after any session at Prism is clients reporting feeling lighter. And while that alone can be incredibly reassuring for many, here’s some other observations post-session…

šŸ‘£ Reflexology
Clients often tell me that their head space feels more clear, their racing heart calms down, and their nervous system feels grounded.

When working with specific areas, I check in throughout the session and clients can physically feel tension leaving those areas.

Even days following a session, clients report shifts in energy, moods, sleep, and digestion patterns.

šŸ’†ā€ā™‚ļø Indian Head Massage
Less shoulder, neck, and jaw tension, and quieter headaches are probably the most common observations from clients after an Indian Head Massage! Also noted was scalp feeling less tight and dry, and hair feeling softer. Sleep improved for many as well because when we allow the nervous system to break, we can stop bracing and invite deeper sleep.

šŸŽØ Therapeutic Art
People are often very surprised at how they feel after playing with art - especially those that claim they ā€˜aren’t an artist’. When navigating heavy emotional themes, words can sometimes be difficult to express. People who believe this to be true for themselves were quite surprised to have been able to ā€˜get it out’ through imagery, colours, and textures that felt aligned to what they were experiencing. People often arrive unsure yet always leave with clarity and sometimes even inspiration to create more.

Experience it for yourself - book a session online. March books are open with availability at both locations. (Therapeutic Art is only available at the Mahone Bay location).

šŸ¤ Were you someone who experienced something I noted above? Or perhaps something more that I didn’t mention? Share your experience belowšŸ‘‡

Accessibility matters at Prism. Receiving desired support was once something I could not access without a sliding scale model. So as I build this practice, being accessible remains at the root.

You are worthy of the care and support you want or need no matter your circumstances. Receiving is not frivolous. You deserve to feel good, when you’re stable, wobbly, crumbling, rising, simmering - my space is for you.

🌿 If you need the sliding scale, the process is simple and non-intrusive. Simply book the service you want and then send me an email or DM ahead of your appointment to let me know you need the scale - no explanation needed. I’ll let you know the range and you can find a spot that feels best for you.

If traditional massage isn’t for you…

If you don’t like being undressed.
If full-body touch feels overwhelming.
If you carry stress but don’t want deep pressure.
If your nervous system is already on edge.
If you just want to exhale without explaining yourself.

Reflexology might be what your body has been asking for.

You stay fully clothed.
We work with your feet.
Your whole system softens.

It’s quiet, grounding, and surprisingly powerful.

Your body doesn’t need force. It needs safety.

✨Book your session online.

If ā€œletting goā€ hasn’t lightened the weight, maybe grief isn’t meant to be discarded.

We’re told to release it. Move on. Be finished.

But what if grief is something we live beside?
Something we tend. Something we give a home.

Join Prism to create your own Grief Swaddle, a weighted ritual object to carry what still matters.

On Thursday, March 5, we’re kicking off The Rosefinch Sessions — a new monthly, all-ages live music night happening on the first Thursday of every month in Port Medway. These nights are made possible with support from Morgan Zwicker at Sotheby's International Realty Canada (thank you for backing live music in rural Nova Scotia!).

The series is hosted and co-produced by South Shore musician Nicholas Laugher. Volume 1 features:

Ocean Charter of Values (Nicholas's own project!): Indie folk that feels expansive and slightly haunted in the best way. There are flashes of 90s alt-radio — the kind you’d tape off CBC late at night — layered with thoughtful lyrics about time travel, prophetic dreams, regional decline, and nostalgia that doesn’t always behave itself. The songs feel intimate but cinematic, like they’re meant for a quiet room where you’re actually listening.

Cursed Arrows: Making Romantic Art Rock since 2007. Also based on the South Shore, they’ve toured across Canada and released more than a dozen recordings, building a reputation for live shows that are magnetic and alive. Their sound pulls from lineages like Tom Waits, Patti Smith, Sonic Youth, and PJ Harvey. Expect heavy themes paired with humour, grit, and real momentum. It’s thoughtful but not precious. Emotional but not maudlin.

The night is free and all are welcome. Donations are appreciated to support the artists and help sustain the series. We’ll have coffee, tea, snacks, and light fare available all evening. If you’ve ever wished small towns had more after-dark culture, this is for you.

If you’ve never been to Rosefinch Mercantile and Tea Room before, this is a very good night to start. We’ve hosted a lot of beautiful gatherings over the past couple of years — book launches, drag brunches, Crafternoons, singalongs for seniors and for kids, and Q***r Prom — so this feels like a natural next step. A monthly night where the lights are low, the chairs are close, and the music belongs to this place.

Come see us on Thursday, March 5. 7–9 PM, at 1615 Port Medway Road in Port Medway. Volume 1 is just the beginning, and I’d love to see the room full.

Come as you are, leave as a friend.

What if grief had somewhere to sit? Not within, but perhaps next to you? And what if it was something you could pick up, carry, swaddle and then sit back down when you’re ready?

What if it had weight in your hands? A texture, like soft linens slipping through your fingers.

What if it had a sound? A small bell to say, ā€œI’m with you.ā€

Grief takes many forms, and navigating it is never linear. For many of us, it floats through our bodies without a place to settle. Or it settles somewhere tender, inconvenient, hard to reach.

This workshop is an invitation to create an object that can hold grief with you. Not to fix, or let go. But something to witness.

Welcome to the Grief Swaddle Workshop. An intimate gathering where we will make our own grief swaddles through quiet, guided making.

This week all I have for you is a gentle reminder to take care of your heart.

If you’ve been scrolling or watching and consuming a lot of what’s going on in our world, remember to take a break and care for your heart. There are unfathomable things happening and we have front row seats to much of it at any given time. Sometimes it can feel like we need to constantly be informed. But we can’t take it all on all of the time.

We can have compassion and still take care of ourselves. We can have empathy and still say, ā€œI can’t hear this right now.ā€

Check in with your heart. Ask yourself what you need. Self-care is marketed to us as luxurious bubble baths and face masks but it has many forms.

It can also be:

A hot meal at the table with your favourite show on the tv.

Calling/video chatting a friend.

Dancing. By yourself. With your pet. With your child.

Taking a nap.

Standing outside. Or walking around the block. Or on a trail.

Organizing the junk drawer.

Rearranging furniture.

Reading a book.

Doing a crossword or a word search.

Colouring in a colouring book or drawing a silly picture of your pet/brother/neighbour.

Baking cookies and eating as many as you want.

Designate a time to catch up, and then disconnect from it by doing something soothing/silly/creative.

All I’m saying is, you don’t have to constantly be consuming. And there is no shame in disconnecting and caring for yourself when you’ve had enough.

šŸ—“ļø March books are OPEN! And with that, a whole new booking system 🄵

I switched recently to a new host/ server that better aligns with Prisms values and it included a scheduling feature. I’ve been busy migrating things over to Acuity and testing it out. Booking can be done directly on my website now! Simplified for you and more cost effective for me. That’s a win.

Have a peek around the website, I’m constantly tweaking things. And do let me know if you have any trouble with the booking page.

I’ll be at my usual spots - and .

How to make the best of your session and extend the benefits beyond the room.

Taking care of yourself post-session is important and can help your body integrate and feel the effects long after your session is complete. Here are a few things I recommend:

🌿 Hydrate. Much of the work I offer, whether it’s reflexology or Indian Head Massage, includes some lymph work. Our lymph system is responsible for removing waste from our bodies but it doesn’t have a pump to flow (like our heart), it requires motion and replenishment. So sip water steadily throughout the day. Avoid diuretics and stimulants if you can.

🌿 Gentle movement. Whether it’s slow yoga, a leisurely swim, or a walk to the park, movement can help keep lymph moving, and also help integrate the session. Avoid vigorous workouts or movement.

🌿 Listen to your body. Some clients feel deeply relaxed, sleepy, emotional release, or subtly energized. Rest if it feels right. Stretch gently if that feels helpful. Channel energy doing something creative or journal to let the emotions settle somewhere outside the body.

Reflexology can continue working up to 5 days post-session, with most shifts becoming noticeable within the first 24 hours. Be kind to yourself, listen to your body, replenish with nutrients and take care of your heart. Checking in with me is always welcome ā™„ļø
