We do love sunshine but the evening sessions are our favourite. The dimly lit steamy sauna becomes womb like in the dark. Through the window the colours of sunset paint the sky and ocean. The Edison bulbs light the way to the water for a chilly dip (if you want!). As spring approaches and the weather warms, sauna nights become even more enjoyable. Our anarondack chairs are far more inviting when not covered in snow!

These three. Core members of my sauna family. NONE of them had dipped a toe in the wintery Atlantic prior to coming to the sauna.
Had a massive panic attack the first time she came and tried the cold. I truly thought I would never see her again. Two days later, there she is saying, "I am going to do this!! I can do this!!". I watched her let the Atlantic take a version of herself that no longer served her away with the tides. She now dunks her head every time and -22° hasn't stopped her. Watching her transformation has been one of my biggest gifts.

Came by chance when a friend brought her. One session was all it took before I started seeing her regularly. Her chronic HS has since cleared up as well her psoriasis, she fits into pre-baby jeans (very well might I add. Hey giirrlll heeyyyy) and can feel a tremendous reduction in inflammation in her body. She now hosts New Moon Somatic meditations in the sauna monthly and can kill numerous mins in the ocean like it's nothing.

Told me he would never get in the cold. In fact he didn't even want to be here for winters! Fast-forward a few months, Derek can go in the ocean pre sauna now. Minutes at a time. He chats with everyone that comes to the sauna and loves that people get to see he isn't just "the tough and gruff wrestler". Derek has a very big heart. The sauna has given him such mental clarity and energy that his creativity has skyrocketed. He even wrote a song about The Sweaty Panda!

Three different people. Three different stories. Yet the same thing has helped them better their lives. What can a community sauna do for you?

When was the last time you were able to improve both your mental and physical well-being just by taking a seat? The sauna is a lovely place to begin showing up for yourself. Often recommended as a starting point when embarking on a wellness journey as you just have to sit.
Let's be real- your health is your wealth. You can have all the money in the world, but it's no good to you if you aren't healthy enough to do things with it.
