10 Facts About Endometriosis You Might Not Know

1️⃣ Endometriosis affects at least 1 in 10 women and people with uteruses, but many go undiagnosed for years.

2️⃣ Lesions can grow on organs outside the reproductive system, including the bowels, bladder, and even the lungs.

3️⃣ It doesn’t always show up on ultrasounds or MRIs, making diagnosis difficult.

4️⃣ Endometriosis has no known cure—hysterectomy and birth control are not guaranteed fixes.

5️⃣ It’s been found in fetal tissue, meaning it’s not always caused by “backward” menstruation.

6️⃣ It can cause extreme fatigue, nausea, and inflammation, not just pelvic pain.

7️⃣ Surgery (laparoscopy) is the gold standard for diagnosis—there’s no simple blood test.

8️⃣ The severity of pain does not always match the severity of the disease—someone with mild endo can have excruciating pain, while someone with severe endo might have little to none.

9️⃣ Some cases are asymptomatic, meaning you can have endometriosis without even knowing it.

🔟 It takes an average of 7-10 years to get diagnosed due to medical dismissal and misinformation.

Endometriosis is real, it’s serious, and it deserves more awareness. If you or someone you love has it, you’re not alone.

These are just SOME of the symptoms I and so many others deal with every single day.

Chronic illness isn’t just one symptom, one diagnosis, or one bad day. It’s a constant, exhausting battle with a body that doesn’t function the way it should. Some days, the pain is unbearable. Other days, the fatigue is so heavy that even sitting up feels impossible. And the worst part? Most of these symptoms are invisible to everyone else.

I deal with:
• Pain that never fully goes away and probably never will
• Fatigue so extreme, it feels like my body is shutting down as I’m walking
• Brain fog that makes simple tasks confusing and disorienting
• Dizziness, nausea, weakness, bladder and bowel problems and even more

Doctors, friends, even strangers often say, “But you don’t look sick.” But just because you can’t see my illness doesn’t mean it’s not real. I fight through this every single day, and I know I’m not alone.

If you’re struggling with chronic illness too, I see you. You’re not making it up. You’re not overreacting. And you’re stronger than anyone realizes.

Expect raw, real, and hopefully relatable content about life with chronic illness, plus anything else that sparks joy (or maybe a little rant here and there).

Thanks for being here—I appreciate every single one of you! 💕 Make sure to like, follow, and stick around for more!
