Co-regulation: because kids borrow our calm before they build their own

When your little one’s flipping out over the blue cup (again)…
Take a breath.
Then offer yours.

Co-regulation is that magical combo of:

A calm voice (even if you're faking it a little)
A cozy snuggle or gentle squeeze
Swaying together like you’re in a slow dance
Matching their energy… and guiding it gently back down

It’s not about stopping the meltdown—it’s about staying with them through it.

Kids don’t need us to be perfect.
They need us to be present.
And bonus: you’ll both feel better.

In the swing… 🌀🧩

This week, I had the joy of working with a bright and curious 3-year-old girl who’s been exploring balance and focus through movement. One of our favorite parts of the session? Doing a puzzle while in the sensory swing.

At first glance, it might look simple — a little girl swinging gently while fitting puzzle pieces together — but there’s so much happening beneath the surface.

As she sat in the cozy swing, her body was getting vestibular input — that calming, organizing movement that helps with balance and body awareness. At the same time, her brain was working hard to match shapes, plan movements, and use her fingers with precision.

Here’s what I noticed:
✔️ Her focus improved as the movement helped settle her busy thoughts
✔️ She sat up taller, using her core strength to stay steady
✔️ She proudly completed the puzzle with just the right mix of challenge and fun
✔️ And best of all — she smiled the whole time

This kind of playful, functional activity is why I love what I do. We’re not just building puzzle skills — we’re supporting regulation, motor coordination, and confidence, all through movement that feels good and natural to her.

Sensory-rich tasks like this are a beautiful example of how we can meet kids where they’re at and help their systems organize from the inside out 💛

Is your morning routine a battle zone?

Getting out the door with your child can feel like climbing a mountain ⛰️—meltdowns, forgotten shoes 👟, last-minute bathroom runs 🚽… and you're already late. Sound familiar?.

These aren’t just “bad habits”—they’re signals your child’s nervous system might need extra support.

I offer personalized, play-based support to help your child:
• Build smoother transitions with sensory-informed routines 🔄

• Strengthen emotional regulation for calmer mornings 🌅

• Improve executive functioning (planning, memory, organization) 🧠

• Learn creative strategies to express themselves without meltdowns 🎨

I also support you—the parent—with tools that are doable in real life, not just on paper ✨

🧸 Guess what? At our center, the most powerful tool isn’t a toy — it’s me. 💛

Sure, I’ve got tons of amazing therapeutic toys, games, and creative tools… but in those first few sessions, my main goal isn’t to dive straight into activities.

✨ It’s to become your child’s favorite toy.
That means I’m on the floor with them, following their lead, listening deeply, and building a relationship rooted in trust, joy, and safety.

Why? Because real growth happens when a child feels connected.
Before we work on regulation, communication, or any new skill, we build a bond — and that makes all the difference. 💫

So if it looks like we’re just playing… we are. But we’re also laying the foundation for everything that comes next. 💖

Feeling Squished = Feeling Safe? Yup!
Here’s why kids LOVE deep pressure!

What is it?
Think:
✨ Big bear hugs 🤗
✨ Weighted blankets 🛏️
✨ Rolling in a soft mat 🌀
✨ Squishy cushion time 🛋️

Deep pressure helps calm the brain and body by giving the nervous system a big ol’ “you’re safe” signal!

It can help with:
✔️ Meltdowns & big emotions
✔️ Focus & attention in school
✔️ Sleep struggles 😴
✔️ Feeling grounded (especially for sensory kiddos!)

We use deep pressure play every day in our sessions—because calm kids = happy hearts!

🌀 Let’s talk about VESTIBULAR INPUT! 🌀

Ever wonder why kids LOVE to spin, swing, or roll around? It’s not just for fun – it’s actually helping their brains grow! 💡

Vestibular input is all about the sense of movement and balance, and it plays a huge role in how kids develop coordination, body awareness, and focus.

🎠 Activities that boost vestibular input:

💪Swinging at the park

💪Spinning with a hula hoop

💪Tumbling on a mat or grass

💪Balancing on one foot or a beam

These movements help kids feel grounded, regulated, and ready to learn. Movement is medicine – especially for developing nervous systems!

📣 Did You Know? Your Child's "Hidden Sense" Might Be Affecting Their Behavior

💬 Let’s talk about Interoception!

Interoception is often called the “hidden sense.” It’s the sense that helps us understand what’s going on inside our bodies — like knowing when we’re hungry, need the bathroom, feel hot or cold, or are feeling anxious or excited.

For many children, especially those with sensory processing differences, trauma histories, ADHD, or Autism, interoception can be underdeveloped — and that can impact self-regulation, mood, and behavior.

💡 When children struggle with interoception, they might:

👉Seem “out of touch” with their body signals (like not realizing they’re hungry or tired)

👉Have trouble identifying emotions (everything just feels “off”)

👉Appear overwhelmed or shut down without a clear reason

👉Have difficulty with toileting or body awareness

🧩 Supporting interoception means helping your child build a bridge between body and brain. And that’s something we focus on at our center through play-based movement, mindful awareness, and sensory-informed strategies.

💛 Every child deserves to feel safe in their body — and that starts with understanding it.

Let’s Talk About Bedwetting

Bedwetting is more common than you think — and it’s not your child’s fault.

One piece that often gets overlooked? Core strength.

At our center, we take an integrative approach to support children with bedwetting by focusing on:
⚙️ Core stability and pelvic floor function
🌀 Primitive reflex integration
🧠 Nervous system regulation
❤️ Gentle, shame-free emotional support

We work with the whole child — body, brain, and heart — to build the foundations they need for lasting change.

If your child is struggling with bedwetting, you're not alone.
Let’s uncover the root cause together and support their confidence from the inside out.
