👅 Your baby’s tongue posture matters!
Your baby’s tongue does more than feed.
Where it rests helps shape the jaw, face, and airway.
✨ Ideal tongue posture:
Tongue resting gently up on the roof of the mouth, not just the tip, the entire tongue!
⬇️ When the tongue rests low, it can lead to:
⚠️ Open mouth posture
⚠️ Mouth breathing (less efficient oxygenation)
⚠️ High, narrow palate
⚠️ Narrower sinuses → harder to clear congestion
⚠️ Suboptimal sleep quality, snoring, etc.
👶🏻 It also impacts feeding:
⚠️ Challenges with latch and milk transfer
⚠️ Compensation patterns (lip clamping and jaw chewing), breast pain and damage
⚠️ Decreased feeding stamina
⚠️ Milk leaks, air intake, gas, and reflux-like struggles
The early months really matter. 🙌🏼
Supporting tongue function early helps guide healthy growth while baby’s body is most adaptable.
A team approach can make a big difference 💛
Because small things early can shape big things later♥️
