In our injury and athletic therapy clinic we provide personal training, injury assessment and active rehabilitation for various soft tissue injuries and disorders. We pride ourselves on our client care first philosophy, individualized program prescription and our functional linked-system approach to fitness. All our rehabilitation/fitness programs are administered in a private fitness facility with state of the art equipment, allowing clients to exercise in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere while receiving one-on-one instruction from a kinesiologist. With flexible appointments from 6am to 6pm we can work around your busy schedule and make the program work for you. Our Team of highly trained kinesiologist’s can help you to rehabilitate from various injuries including; soft-tissue injuries, chronic pain disorders, joint pain and weakness, low back pain, poor posture and motor vehicle injuries. Active rehabilitation is a proactive approach to injury recovery allowing for a faster healing process by integrating activating exercises and stretches to correct muscular imbalances. Active rehabilitation means the client takes an active role in their recovery. Under the kinesiologist’s guidance the client will learn to manage their injuries independently. Our goal is to progress you from your treatment to a return to work and recreational activity faster and more confidently then any other organization. All our injury rehabilitation programs begin with a comprehensive physical and verbal assessment including range of motion and strength testing to injury history. During your sessions you will always have on-on-one supervision by a kinesiologist. Our clinic believes that proper motivation, sensitivity and positive reinforcement helps clients to feel more comfortable and recover quicker. We feel that the “correct” exercise prescription is key to achieving desired outcomes. Under expert supervision you will learn how to perform your individualized programs in a safe a progressive manner in order to maximize recovery and reduce chances of re-injury. One of the benefits of this is you will become educated on mechanism of injury and pain management. We accept ICBC and private insurance claims and may be able to arrange for direct payment form your insurance provider. Check with your private health care provider as some extended health plans will cover the cost of sessions with a kinesiologist. We believe in a gradual return to work program in which the client, kinesiologist, doctor and employer will work together to develop a return to work schedule that is effective and manageable for the client. Our kinesiologist’s will be in direct contact with your insurance provider and doctor providing updates along the course of your program. Work simulation exercises are individually tailored based on the requirements of your job and limitations of your injury. Work simulation sessions can be 1 or 2 hours in duration and will focus on proper lifting techniques, correct posture and pain management strategies on the job site. Your program will be updated regularly to ensure progression is being made with a goal of being on an independent gym program as you return to work. Personal training/sports conditioning programs are customized to every client’s individual fitness goals and abilities. Some programs will be geared to starting or re-establishing a workout routine while some people may have a specific fitness goal in mind or some may aspire to reach optimal performance in their particular sport. We believe in training movement not muscles a philosophy known as linked-system strength. Regular body composition assessments and anthropometric measurements will help you to monitor progress and set further fitness goals.

While exercise has been shown to be safe and effective for people with scoliosis, it’s important to speak with a therapist who specializes in scoliosis care before beginning an exercise program. There are a wide range of targeted scoliosis exercise programs, and the program your therapist recommends will be specific to your unique needs.

I am trained in Schroth Method, SEAS (Scientific Exercise Approach to Sciliosis) and Scoli-Care mirror image exercise and traction. Through an assessment of posture and X-rays I can provide a unique combination of the three principle exercise methods that will be tailor fit to your specific curve and posture.

For more information on how you can relieve your pain and improve function message me or comment “more info” below.

Every scoliosis is different just like the people the condition affects. The shape and location of the curve will determine the classification. Even within one specific classification there can be many differences including the Cobb Angle, the angle of trunk rotation and lateral shifting from the centre line. Measuring all three of these is very important in determining progression and which part of your curve is “most important” to try and correct. The exercises and stretches prescribed must be specific to the location, degree of curvature, angle of rotation and the lateral shift associated.
If you are wondering what specific exercises and stretches might help with your scoliosis related pain and posture DM me or comment below and we can chat about what you can do to help yourself.

6 Daily Habits to Reduce Scoliosis Pain…
1.Stretch Every Morning. You can improve spinal health and restore some of the imbalances of scoliosis with daily stretching.
2. Mirror image exercise, strengthening muscles on the concave side of the curve can help stabilize spine and prevent fitter progression.
3. Eat an Anti-Inflammatory Diet. Getting nutritional advice from an expert can help with inflammation and recovery.
4. Supplement with Vitamins. The right supplements can help with inflammation and tissue flexibility.
5. Sleep on a firm mattress to help support your back while sleeping.
6. Visit a Chiropractor or therapist that specializes in scoliosis to begin Scoliosis Treatment.
If you or anyone you know suffers from pain due to their scoliosis and are looking for relief message me to see what we can do to help.

General exercise alone has not been shown to reduce scoliosis, but scoliosis-specific exercises that are customized to a patient with a fair amount of flexibility in their spine, can have the ability to help reduce a curve and manage pain.

I am a kinesiologist and have training in Schroth method, SEAS method and Scoli Care mirror image exercise. I have created a rehabilitation and fitness program that’s utilizes pieces from each method to tailor for an exercise use program to your specific curve and function.

The Schroth Method is a nonsurgical option for scoliosis treatment. It uses exercises customized for each patient to return the curved spine to a more natural position. The goal of Schroth exercises is to de-rotate, elongate and stabilize the spine in a three-dimensional plane.

SEAS exercises train neuromotor function so to stimulate by reflex a self-corrected posture during the activities of daily life.

ScoliBalance is a physiotherapeutic scoliosis specific exercise (PSSE) program used to treat scoliosis and kyphosis in children, adolescents and adults.

For more information about any of these methods or how they can help you self-manage your scoliosis message me or comment below.

Exercise is beneficial for scoliosis patients when used alone or in combination with other treatments, such as bracing. Exercise can help build and maintain core strength to support the spine and prevent further degeneration. Mirror image exercise and stretch can even help reduce curves and pain.
