Yesssss!!!!
Our Elders teach us that we... (First Peoples of Turtle Island) have always been here. 🤲🏽💖🤲🏽

For generations, the Blackfeet Nation told a story: their ancestors had roamed the Montana plains for nearly 18,000 years—long before settlers, maps, or fences existed.
Historians dismissed these accounts as myth or mere storytelling. Oral traditions weren’t seen as reliable history.
Then, in 2022, science finally caught up. DNA analysis revealed the Blackfeet’s lineage diverged from other Indigenous groups about 18,000 years ago, matching their ancient oral history.
This wasn’t just a minor detail—it validated a form of knowledge preserved without written records. The stories passed from elders to children survived millennia, carrying undeniable truth.
For the Blackfeet, storytelling was more than entertainment. It was a vital tool for teaching survival, preserving identity, and maintaining a deep connection to the land.
Every hill, river, and valley held memories tied to specific stories—each one anchored in reality, now confirmed by science.
This discovery challenges us to rethink how we value history and whose voices get heard. It asks: What other truths might be hidden in oral traditions around the world, waiting for us to listen?
The Blackfeet story shows that history isn’t just written in books—it lives in stories, songs, and memories passed down through generations. Maybe it’s time we all start listening more closely.

"Real wisdom, like real love, knows its limits. It trusts that other people will carry the stories we cannot."
We cannot be Warriors for EVERY cause, it is just not possible to do this... and be in Balance, be Well. I love what Rob has to say about this. His words are eloquent & honest. Love that about him!! ❤ And, in my own words... it shows Respect for an issue to focus your time & energy on it. Not to lump it in with every other injustice, but to single it out and shower your love, attention, anger, thought and voice on it alone.
What a Gift.
And maybe you are able to do this for several issues, over time.
Maybe there is only ONE issue you speak to... every time.
However you use your voice, is YOUR choice.
Hy Hy!! Thank you my Sibling for choosing to use it!!! 😉

When I challenge white supremacy, someone protests, “You’re ignoring class oppression! You’re not intersectional enough!”

When I write about global warming’s effects on coral reefs, someone replies, “Why don’t you mention deforestation or plastic pollution?”

When I speak up about police brutality, someone yells, “Why don’t you talk about domestic violence or human trafficking?”

When I share a piece about the suffering of factory-farmed pigs, a commenter retorts, “What about the children starving in Gaza?”

When I celebrate women reclaiming their bodies from centuries of shame, someone says, “But what about men’s mental health?”

When I critique corporate greed in Silicon Valley, a critic says, “But Wall Street is worse! Why ignore them?”

+

When we speak, we carve a small sculpture out of the infinite. Every utterance is a narrowing, a slice of attention through the great blooming, buzzing confusion of existence. To say anything is to choose, and to choose is to leave out.

“It’s not possible to say EVERYTHING every time you say ANYTHING” is an epistemological truth and a spiritual hygiene principle. It reminds us that focus is not exclusion; it’s the price of coherence.

If we try to mention all suffering every time we name one, all beauty every time we praise one, our speech collapses under the weight of impossible inclusivity. The result isn’t compassion but paralysis.

Our culture’s moral discourse often mistakes breadth for depth. Many believe that mentioning every possible angle proves fairness or intelligence.

But deep justice work and deep artistry depend on specificity. Each act of attention—to a person, a wound, a species, a joy—honors the sacred particular. To name one injustice isn't to erase the others; it's to hold one glowing fragment of the world’s pain and say, “I see you.”

The quote also protects against a subtle form of ego inflation. The fantasy that one could ever speak for everything is the voice of the inflated savior or the anxious perfectionist.

Real wisdom, like real love, knows its limits. It trusts that other people will carry the stories we cannot. It believes in the ecology of attention—the idea that when each of us tends one corner of the garden with sincerity, the whole Earth is nourished.

So when critics cry, “But what about all the other injustices?” the answer isn't defensiveness, but clarity: “Yes, they matter too. And now, I’m speaking to this one.”

Focus isn't neglect. Focus is fidelity.

Kokums’ Story

Adjustments for CoVid19.... I am working from my Home. I am able to offer full, wise & accurate Readings. I am able to offer Shamanic Healing, Insights & Teachings. And I am able to offer Clinical Hypnotherapy. I can do this with a combination of technology...Phone, Skype, Duo and Digital Recordings. In fact, clients are saying that at this current time? They are appreciating the privacy, having a Recording to go back over, and the ability for us to still connect visually through video calls. Win-win. Rates are being adjusted to budgets...as I am fully aware that resources may be strained at this time.

Kokums’ Den is the safe, comfortable place where I live, and do healing work. We are blessed with a gorgeous acreage that is 15 mins. east of downtown Maple Ridge. Kokum is one of the Cree words for Grandmother. I am Haudenosaunee & Nêhiyaw Michel Band #137 - Cree, with French & Irish Ancestry running in my blood as well. ;)

What is my work? Spiritual Healing, “Shamanic” Healing, Energetic Healing & Clearing, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Readings, as well as Teaching & Ceremony. I began learning & gathering skills for the purpose of healing in 1999, almost 30 years ago. I am still learning, still gathering and yes, still teaching.

The work that I do is a fusion of all that I have learned.
