I absolutely adore animals. In fact, when I was younger, I wanted to be a marine biologist (I'm allergic to some furry animals, which was why I nixed being a vet 😅), but then I found out how long I would have to go to school for soooo my path changed. Instead, I get outside as much as I can to witness animals in the wild!

I've been so lucky over the years - since my husband is a hunter, we have been able to venture into remote places, where I could listen to the flap of birds wings above me, or keep an eye out for the elusive deer 🦌 (which would sometimes walk right by me, much to my husband's dismay!).

This past year, we were able to make it over to South Africa 🌍 - and my list of wildlife sightings grew exponentially! I hope my list keeps growing as we broaden our horizons - I dream of hanging out in the Galapagos with some wild turtles 🐢.

Because my list is so long, I'm not sure if I could pick just one as my favourite - but if I had to, swipe 👉🏼 to see what would be at the top.

Today is World Animal Day, an occasion to celebrate all creatures great and small! Do you have a favourite animal? Have you been able to see them roaming about (maybe like having elk in your campsite like we did on a trip to Jasper)? Let me know in the comments below!

A few things I learned while traveling halfway across the world 🌍

- Those people with the small suitcase carry-ons know what's up! It was 5 days after we landed before we got our luggage & while I had a change of underwear in my backpack, I wish I had had at least one full outfit change. We were lucky we could make a quick stop & grab essentials but trying to shop on a time crunch where you don't know sizing & prices can be overwhelming! Learn from my mistake & have at least 1 change of clothes in your carry on (and hope your destination can do your laundry!)

- If you have pale brows like me or need to shave every other day, spend the few extra $ and pamper yourself before you go! I treated myself to a brow/lash tint & it was so worth it! Knowing I had visible eyebrows despite not having my trusty brow pencil made me feel more like myself for pictures (you understand if you are a part of the disappearing brow club!).

- You can never have too many memory cards and battery back ups. It may take us a few weeks to go thru pictures, but for every amazing picture there is an equally not so amazing picture. Whether the animals moved or the focus wasn't just right, having the freedom to take as many pictures as possible in the moment makes it easier to enjoy the memories later on (plus, the cards are so tiny so why not?!)

- If you're a book lover, an e-reader is a godsend! Why have to choose what books to bring when you can cram 100s of books on one small reader?! You can only watch so many in-flight movies before you start to go cross-eyed so I was thankful for my Kobo.

- Embrace the local customs when possible. Each night was spent braaing with our guides & we would listen to stories or share our own. We enjoyed braai favourites like braaibroodjie & jaffles and really soaked it all in. We truly felt like family in the end.

If you're looking for your next vacation spot, I highly recommend South Africa. From their sunsets to the wildlife, you really can't go wrong!

Instagram VS Reality

I currently work in an office, so Monday to Friday, 9-5, I'm dressed up in work slacks and a nice shirt - but you can bet your butt that as soon as I get home, the cozy sweats come on and the hair gets thrown up in a bun 😂 Don't get me wrong, I love getting dolled up, but after 8 or so hours I'm ready to get extra comfy.

Either way, it's still me behind the screen - whether I'm creating meditations, recording readings, or putting in orders for my customers.

What's your go-to cozy outfit? Do you throw on sweats and a tank or do you live in your jeans?

This is where you'll find me on a rainy day...

Well, there'd probably be a cozy blanket wrapped around me and my hair would be in a messy bun, but it's all about getting lost in a good book.

I'll be honest - I've read ᴀ ʟᴏᴛ of books in my lifetime 📖🐛, but only a handful of spiritual books. I'm working on upping that count, but if a new Janet Evanovich book comes out, you can bet that will jump the line (highly recommend if you're looking for a funny detective type book!)

I'm currently reading 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘭 by Michael Singer, and I'm really enjoying it! It brings up some really good points about what's going on inside your head and whether you choose to interact with that voice...or not.

Up next - 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴, 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴. Any books I should add to the list?
